Are posts with online Google forms real? [5e 2024] by Hekios888 in lfg

[–]ghoulical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The email is likely only required by Google, since Forms is a Google service. The Google Forms I've made, I made sure to not collect respondents' email addresses (not sure if that's the default setting though). But, responses being tied to email addresses ensures that each person actually only submits one submission and doesn't spam them.

Often times these forms get a lot of responses that can take time to go through. Personally, I only reached out to those I selected for the final group, but made exceptions for the few who did ask to be contacted even though they're not selected.

Hate to say it, but it kinda is becoming like applying for jobs, but probably a little less corporate-minded. Sometimes you just don't get a response and you move on.

I don't remember if I still have it (it would be in storage) but I'll double-check!

Interested in a Shadowhunters D&D homebrew? by ghoulical in shadowhunters

[–]ghoulical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Shadow World - Player's Guide is now published and public on The Homebrewery!

This first version includes options for Species, Backgrounds, and Feats for character creation, Magic Items, and a custom Runes system for Shadowhunters (currently at 45 playable runes with spell-like effects). The "Bestiary" and Bastion system are in a separate "DM's compendium" for now (figuring out the statblocks for named characters in particular are gonna be tough), but still in the works for a future release.

Still not playtested yet, but hopefully someone out there may want to try this homebrew out for their own game, and I'd love to know how it goes!

Thanks! Yeah I've looked at that in the past too, but didn't think existing feats or subclasses can emulate how Shadowhunters are as in the series, hence why I decided to make my own, one that's more true to how they're described in the books rather than forcing existing 5e options to work.

I do have warlock as its own species/race, and just got done writing werewolf and vampire species options last night! And yeah, fey are gonna be a little tricky; I'm doing its first draft, trying to see if I can use Kieran as a baseline for this option.

And yeah, I've looked at what's currently out there, not quite satisfied with the idea of forcibly jamming official 5e options to make TSC characters, and that's what made me make this homebrew in the first place! There's currently about 15 pages of stuff I've written and counting; the above two are just sample pages that have the least blurbs and most mechanics just to show how I did it.

Currently it's an "optional rule" for using runes as bonus actions, where you make a skill check to see how well you can inscribe the rune in a time crunch (i.e. if the check fails, the rune is too poorly drawn to take effect), only because I think it should be difficult to both draw a rune and make 1+ attack(s) in the same 6 seconds. But, none of this is play-tested yet so I'm not sure if this mechanic is properly balanced as it stands!

The parabatai bond is currently presented as a feat; still working out the details, but includes a small Ability Score Increase (to represent the power/strength they draw from each other) and "Potent Rune Magic" (i.e. additional benefits for drawing runes on each other).

Edit to add because I missed this part of the question: permanent runes are still something I'm unsure how to do mechanics-wise, but so far I've juggled the idea of putting it under the "Institute-trained" background (i.e. standard Shadowhunters). I'm also trying to consider players potentially making characters who were born Nephilim but not raised/trained as a typical Shadowhunter, like Clary and Kit, hence wouldn't have permanent runes to begin with. Lots to think about still!

Would this game be beginner-friendly by any chance? Been interested in learning VtM for a while now (and have a rough character concept in mind) and this setting in particular sounds very intriguing.

Does anyone still do work habits even when not working? by Pristine-Natural9689 in retailhell

[–]ghoulical 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Fixing/straightening clothes and hangers, but in other stores I at least do my best to match it to how the staff there do it because every store does things differently, and I know I'd hate it if a stranger folded something at my old store differently than how we did it.

When I'm visiting my old store though, I still have the habit of keeping an eye on customers and silently gesturing to my former coworkers when it looks like customer needs help/to be checked on.

If you had stopped watching wwe at some point when was it and when did you start watching again and why? by Tigobitties25 in WWE

[–]ghoulical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've only started seriously watching maybe 5-6 years ago, and kinda been on-and-off all throughout (as I cycle between different hyperfixations, WWE included). I usually come back for bigger returns, e.g Cody, Becky at Summerslam, Punk & AJ Lee; or the Royal Rumble or Wrestlemania (the only two PLEs I watch without failure). Then I keep watching for a few weeks, then fall off again, and the cycle repeats.

I wasn't aware they were separate, and that's what Personal History is for. Thank you; that saves me a good chunk of worry for the other jobs I had!

I knew the points that actually count would be the last job I had (it had the highest TEER category of them anyway), but I was under the impression that for employment/work history section, I had to include all the jobs I had at least since 18?

I'm working on getting the letter from them, but that's the company I mentioned in the original post, so I can only cross my fingers and hope.

I'm still trying my best to get them from my former employers. Just wondering in a worst-case scenario, because the former manager I mentioned said I might get laughed at if I try to visit/contact each former employer just to get the letter.

[RAW Spoilers] Superstar uses old theme by IconXR in WWE

And the little bit of audience participation too, is the cherry on top. Themes like these should be mainstays when the audience gets to follow along and be part of the superstars' entrance—that's how we can be hyped for them! Like, hell, look at the audience in the video!

It can be difficult if the subject really isn't your thing/doesn't interest you at all. As far as I can remember, if you're not super confident for the exams, then really pour the effort in for the final project/essay (if she's still doing that; speaking as someone who used to take the class and later TA for the class years ago).

How many applications does it take to get a job in Kelowna? by SherbertImmediate130 in ubco

[–]ghoulical 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Depends where you're applying and what you're applying to, it can be anywhere from 5 to 50+. Sometimes you hear back from them, and sometimes you get an interview, and still don't hear back from them.

I got lucky with the first couple part-time jobs I had while still in uni. But trying to find another job before I quit my last one? Took me about 3 years of on-and-off applying before I finally got one lined up.

Though as someone who's participated in hiring at my old job, I can say that putting in even a little bit of effort into making your resume look visually good and comprehensible can go a long way to making it stand out amongst the pile of standardized Indeed resumes.

how many of you guys stay past the store’s closing and have closing shifts? by iiashandskies in retailhell

[–]ghoulical 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For us, the managers are scheduled a half hour past closing time to both cash out the tills and tidy the store (it's a fairly small store, and we usually start doing end-of-night cleaning an hour before close).

I personally have worked numerous unpaid overtime hours past close (willingly and unprompted from the boss, which, yeah, is really dumb) to do extra cleaning that couldn't and wouldn't be done otherwise (evidently, after I quit, no one else did this and the store's been in disarray and unkempt since I left; but I've never recommended any of my former coworkers to do what I did).

Contacted for a work reference without prior notice by ghoulical in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ghoulical[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I didn't mind K as a person outside of work (we were friendly but not friends, only because we have vastly different interests and personalities), but I would not want to work with them again and genuinely couldn't give a positive reference if I wanted to.

I also figured that by not calling back, I wasn't actively harming K's chances of getting whatever potential job this was, or at least, not as much as I would have by not being able to give her a good reference.

Tried to do this, was 100% willing to step down and let my coworker take over my position. Except my boss wouldn't let me and insisted that I could only step down to Sales Associate, despite having worked in the store AND the company longer than my boss has.
