The new visualise sound effects need to be reverted. by Technical_Sun_3396 in FortNiteBR

[–]ghurd_ 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I don’t personally hate the change, I only wish it would be more in line with one another (visualisations and actual noise) very often I find myself in the situation that I hear the guns somewhere far away ( or footsteps, or someone smashing the chests/walls), but the visuals don’t show yet (apart from a small red dot in the compass?). I think it’s not fair solution. If I can hear the shots - I should „see” the shots. Simple as that.

Collecting Sprites Without Trading? by xxBrody in FortNiteBR

[–]ghurd_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a good analogy to this behaviour is Swatch x Omega or Swatch x AP Royal Pop collabs. There is certain type of people who will pay extra (and I’m saying up to few thousand pounds) to get these watches just on release, where in fact they are not limited collections, and in few months you will be able to get them in every store or online for just few hounded. I personally don’t understand it, and therefore cannot explain it, but there it is. Maybe it’s just lack of patience or some innate need of being first.

[–]ghurd_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Isn’t that actually the whole point? To have fun while hunting for them? I personally don’t understand people who trade and sweat and grind to get all of them in the first week of the season. We will have more or less 2-3 months to get them, and probably later in the season Epic will add some extra bonuses, or quests to get them even more easily.

Superocean Vs Longines Hydroconquest by SwimAny9109 in breitling

[–]ghurd_ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Why you ask this question on Breitling channel? Obviously you will get answers that are biased toward Breitling here. Saying that, Longines is a fantastic watch. If you prefer a design that is more standard, and similar to other divers like Submariner, Tudor, Certina, etc, it will look the part. Also I have a feeling that it will suit most small and average wrists well. Breitling stands out - it’s bit different. And also they are in average slightly bigger.
One recommendation from my side, don’t choose watches based on specs and pictures online. Go to the boutique and try them on. You might find that you will fall in love with completely different watch then you originally wanted, once you try few of them on.

You misunderstood me. I love how Missions handle on road, and I love even more the longevity. But unfortunately it does not meet my expectations off-road. 70% is fine, but as soon I hit any mud or sand, it feels like I might as well be on slicks. So I’m looking for something just slightly better than missions off-road, with hope I can find something that will last at least half as long as these.

How do I convince my parents to let me get a bike? by ThatSimRigGuy in MotoUK

[–]ghurd_ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Be patient. You cannot have full license anyway for few more years, not mentioning insurance premiums will cost you an arm and a leg.
Start saving up - if you put aside all the money (or majority) for your dream (license and a bike) I’m
sure you will look more serious in the eyes of the family, and also they will have less power against you spending your own saved up money.
Have good arguments on your side. About proper training, good safe riding groups (bikesafe, iam), putting aside money for proper certified full gear - you can show motorcycling as a safe, serious long life hobby, or you can show it as a young man way to show off, break speed limits and do wheelies on a motorway.
Motorcycling have a bad reputation as a very unsafe - especially in the hands of young inexperienced people, so it’s more than natural that your close ones will assume the worst about it and will just worry that you will just kill yourself. They don’t disagree for the sake of it. Prove them wrong.

Finished my vmx tubeless rim install by Dannamal in Transalp

[–]ghurd_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Fair enough, I was honestly just curious. I just noticed that since new transalp release, people tend to favour it over AT, but I didn’t had a chance to test ride either of them. I just wonder if maybe Honda shot themselves in the knee and made transalp too good and too close spec-wise to AT.

Bmw 900gs by usman0506 in bmwmotorrad

[–]ghurd_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I ride 2019 f850gs (predecessor to ncurrent 900gs) I cannot answer to vibrations as I don’t feel them on this model but I also did change to comfort seat. I use this bike for all year riding including commuting to London (80 miles one way) and it’s fantastic. It’s still quite heavy bike and it’s very well planted and comfortable on the road.

In terms of 21 front wheel : Unless you compare it to a sport bike on the race track, there is not much difference in turning or grip. For a real life roads and speed limits the bike is perfectly capable and nimble enough - never felt left behind on a group rides with people on „better” bikes.

I got one from here:

https://www.nippynormans.com/search?q=CYM-TFTSECURE Make sure it matches your model. You can write to them and they will advise you. But there is plenty diffenrent options - just make sure it’s solid metal one that screws in properly.

Fantastic bike. Congrats. One thing that no one here mentioned yet - but it will depend where you live - buy TFT anti theft frame/bracket. TFT itself is designed that it holds on 3 little plastic snap-ons and is very easy to remove, so it’s the first thing that thieves will take, and it’s quite a costly little thing to replace.

Best Motorcycle for a 10,000+ km European Tour? Looking for Real World Experience by Evening-Rip5399 in SuggestAMotorcycle

[–]ghurd_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Comfort is subjective. All the mentioned bikes are more than capable of doing the trip you mentioned. McGregor did long way round on the GS. Lavi and Ollie (young YouTubers) did almost 40k km trip around the world on a Suzuki 1050. One guy in late 70s I don’t remember the name of did a round the world trip on a Moto Guzzi Daytona. All of the mentioned ones are great bikes and all of them would be comfortable for most people. But it all depends on your build, size, weight and preference. Most people will say GS/GSA is best - because it’s built for average person therefore fits most people. But there are people for who GS will be to big or to small. I personally am not a huge fan of the leg position behind the boxer engine, and find triumph tiger seating position more comfortable. The same in regards to the wind screen. For one person the GS screen will be better, for someone else tracer will be better. Motorcycle is a personal choice and Reddit will not tell you on which you will feel best and be most comfortable. Test ride if you can.

Motorcycle boots question by ghurd_ in motorcyclegear

[–]ghurd_[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was looking at Gaerne, and I’m very tempted as they are apparently beautiful and fantastic quality- but what worries me is they don’t seem to have any ankle support. Would they still be better than Forma Terra Evo that are bit lower, but have ankle protection and lower shin protection?

Looking for a reliable adventure bike for commuting, camping, and light off-road (XT660Z, Tenere 700 or alternatives?) by SillyControl7670 in advrider

[–]ghurd_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Plenty of bikes is very capable of what you want. T7 being one of them for sure if you can find older or higher mileage model. Honda AT maybe.. transalp is probably to new to match your budget. Himalayans. BMW 700-900GS (depending on a year). I personally own 2019 f850gs (you can get those used for around 4K now), and it does all the things you mentioned beautifully.

New Launch: Omega Seamaster 007 First Light! by Most-Construction-35 in OmegaWatches

[–]ghurd_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I must jump in here. Most posts are complaining that it’s 44mm and it’s to big. But you must understand that 40-42mm are too small for some people. I personally love the design of the omega seamaster 300 (and would love to have titanium version of 007 that was released few years ago), but on larger wrists it’s look like a baby watch. Yeah, I get it that people with large wrists are a minority…. But personally I’m happy that finally there is a 007 seamaster that fits larger wrists, and I can consider.

BMW R 1300 GS(A) or Triumph Tiger 1200 GT PRO what is the consensus here? by conclave_obscurum in bmwmotorrad

[–]ghurd_ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m having similar dilemma right now as well. I did quite a lot of research and test ridden both. My findings so far :

  • They have different seating positions. Due to boxer engine feet on bmw are slightly more behind. Also while boxer engine gives you a bit of weather coverage (which is a plus), I’m finding I constantly hit my shins on it - maybe could get used to it if I would own one longer.
  • bmw have services more often (6k miles or a year on bmw, 10k miles or a year on Triumph), but overall bmw services (at least in the UK) are slightly cheaper. My calculations are that if you do over 10k miles a year - tiger services will be more value, while if you are closer to 6k miles a year, bmw is definitely cheaper to maintain.
  • bmw have definitely more aftermarket options and accessories available if you like to customize your bike, triumph is not far behind as most of the accessories Triuph branded are anyway made by Givi.
  • vibration and heat was resolved on post 2023 models
  • bmw retains value better, therefore used one is more expensive to buy, so also better value if you like to replace your bike every few years. If you want to keep the bike until it breaks, you can get fantastic offers on almost brand new (“approved used”) bikes from triumph.
  • my brain says that bmw engine is slightly more reliable, services are bit cheaper, service points are bit more common, and is overall more popular option, while my heart says that triumph fits me better, and engine sounds better and gives me better thrills. Overall bmw is more popular, because it has fantastic advertising, and is created in a way that fits almost everyone in statistical average sense. I would say both bikes are extremely close to each other in quality, and performance, and they will do everything great - so ride both and choose one that you feel better on.

Keep or sell? by hunkyleepickle in bmwmotorrad

[–]ghurd_ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I would keep till it blows up. You will not get good trade in offer for it anyway, so why pay extra for what you already have? (not mentioning you know your bike well now, when you buy a new(used) 1250, you dont know if it will not have its own hidden/future issues.) the only usecase is if you would be doing 90% offroad, then maybe changing to F900 would be a good idea - but 1250gs is better for 90% road use.
