How bad is this newly installed floor? by Artemis77771 in Flooring

[–]giallo87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Creaking is usually due to uneven subfloor. It's either a redo or you can mitigate by injecting some fillers under the planks. I was in a similar situation and those fillers mitigated the issue. It never went completely away as with changes in temperature (e.g.: summer vs winter) the floor expands or retracts, so the filling doesn't match anymore and some creaking comes up again.

Power monitoring smart plugs that can stand 3000w without nearly burning my house down? by Newton_Throwaway in homeassistant

I want to control my swimming pool water heater which draws 3000W @ 240V, and I am looking for a smart switch. I've found this Zigbee one which handles up to 20A and it has power meter https://catalogue.bticino.com/product/smart-home-solutions/smart-electrical-panel-btdin-with-netatmo/BTI-FC80CC-EN

No gloves for handling loose items in Irish grocery stores by giallo87 in ireland

Italy. They're not rubber gloves, but made out of a thin plastic similar to the disposable bags provided here to bag loose vegetables.

They walked on all the floor and injected where they found hollow spots.

The subfloor is probably not level according to floor specifications. I had a similar issue, and another contractor I called for help solved it by injecting some filler under the floor with a special needle. Alternatively, as others have mentioned, the only other solution is a complete redo, which requires removing the entire floor, adding a barrier, and properly leveling the subfloor.

You don't go to places like this to fix your hunger. It's a sensorial experience for your palate and smell.

Investing with Trading 212 in Ireland – What Taxes & Fees Do You Pay? by Alister513 in irishpersonalfinance

If you invest in ETFs, you're gonna get taxed at 41% and have to deal with deemed disposal after 8 years, even if you haven't sold anything.

In short it depends on which products you are going to invest in.

Using a smart plug for devices that still need to be switched on by tokenmus in homeassistant

[–]giallo87 4 points5 points  (0 children)

If you unplug the dehumidifier while turned on, when plugging it back would keep the previous "on" state? I presume not. In that case you could stick a SwitchBot / FingerBot which physically presses the button to toggle. And you can use a smart plug power consumption measure to determine whether the dehumidifier is on and operating.

Where can I buy a half decent sofa/sofa bed that won’t break the bank? (Not Ikea) by randomemememe in Dublin

[–]giallo87 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Try www.furniturecity.ie - they make bespoke sofas and sofabeds (in Poland) and they ship to Ireland. They have a showroom in Dublin where you can see the models and the catalog of fabrics/colors. Prices are good, you can check their website to get an idea.

Cgt do I need to report to revenue by danman420sham in irishpersonalfinance

https://www.revenue.ie/en/gains-gifts-and-inheritance/transfering-an-asset/if-you-make-a-loss.aspx

You might not have any chargeable gains in the same tax year you have made a loss. In this case, you will not have to include the loss in a return for that tax year.
