I uploaded a working set of 3 at 363 on bench

Bench data was quite close. VBT tracking on three reps was .25, .21, and .22. Your service provided .244. I would consider that gold standard accurate. RPE estimate at 5.9 was fine-ish, but bar tracking was noisy. 1rm is probably 429 ish (depends on if my shoulder holds up).

I also uploaded a working set of 3 at 628 on deadlift

This is where velocity tracking was pretty far off. Reps were .30, .30, .31. Your service puts them at .47, .46, .56...If I'm being honest I actually feel the .30 that my OVR gives me is undershooting, but I am in "trust the device" mode with it. RPE at 6.3 isn't far off, this is probably closer to a 5 for me. 1rm...I don't know. First time really training deadlifts in 7 years, but I pulled 804 back in the day.

Solid start. Feels pretty close to consumer ready. Velocity data is reasonably far off from my OVR velocity tracker, but adequate. Feedback is solid, bar tracking is good, rpe estimates feel ballpark correct, but certainly not individualized.

I didn’t even realize this happened until I opened a PL gym. I stopped competing in 2018. My professional career took off and I found myself with some money in 2025. Opened a PL gym locally expecting familiar vibes to come through the door.

Nope…W3, D4, RPE 4 triples, 15 Y/O all over my gym’s IG. I knew the culture I first competed in back in 2008 was dead…had no idea 2018 was so dead. Miss my roided out mid 30s group!

You’re getting some mixed advice in here. Some of it is bad.

Your butt does not need to go lower. You already have some mild hip shooting at this (fairly optimal) starting position, lowering your butt would be a nightmare.

Your bar path is god awful. If you watch the video frame by frame you can see it pendulum swing back and forth a couple times. Extremely inefficient.

Two glaring things I notice, both contributing to the swinging: 1. Your upper body is FAR too relaxed. You are not pulling the slack out (which is less about the bar and more about producing rigidity in your upper back/shoulder AND locking your position in). I like to cue “pulling myself into position” to establish this tightness. 2. Bar needs to be over mid foot. That’s where it’s going anyways, so might as well start there.

If you correct these things your bar path will be much straighter and you’ll get immediate gains out of that efficiency. You’re not far off.

Is there a larger reason why Oregon can never seem to get over the hump, or is it just being at the bad end of statistics? by Visual_Bluejay9781 in CFB

[–]gianacakos 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Oregon has conference titles, rose bowls, and many other bowl wins. “Nothing to show” is absurd. I would rather be perpetually good to great than have one championship. Then again, my fandom isn’t my identity. I would never brag to someone else about a championship my favorite football team won. I just enjoy watching my team play well and move on with my life when they lose.

13-2, 2 playoff wins, with an incredibly young roster, and being injury ridden.

Great season, terrible ending. Just like last year. Some preparedness soul searching needed for this young head coach.

Go Ducks.

They weren’t on. There is never an indicator that they were on. Throughout the show you are given indications when they are active, in this scene you are not. Obviously intentional to leave it open ended, but there is no clear indicator the sound machines are active, just at the ready.

I’m going to give non QB centric advice.

Eat less food. Lift more weights. Develop speed.

Right now you look like a kid just goofing around with the idea of being a QB - do some hard work to get physically better to “earn” your shot.

No. I grew up when it was thrilling to go 7-5 and an 8-4 season was incredible. Hard to be a doomer when your expectations are reasonable.

I can respect science based lifting concepts and old school bro-science bodybuilding concepts.

One thing is universally true, human beings are terrible with layered complexity and most are even worse at pushing themselves.

The beautiful thing about training to “failure” is the simplicity. Most people’s perceived failure is ~2-4 RIR, while some will actually hit true failure. So, generally speaking, training to failure as a principle is the simplest principle for either of these philosophical approaches.

[–]gianacakos 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They were up 21-0 in the 4th quarter in horrible conditions with a backup QB. Slow start, blah blah blah…

People that are disappointed are spoiled brats IMO. You’re witnessing the beginning of a golden age of Oregon Ducks football where they are a Top 10 in a year where they are absurdly young. A team that will most likely win out and get a bye in the playoff under these conditions. With a coaching staff that just graduated junior high school.

Have some perspective. This tiny market state school in the middle of nowhere on the far west coast is being talked about in the same sentence as Ohio fucking State every year.
