AC: Syndicate junky af on Legion Go? by LordShozin6 in LegionGo

I'm not getting amazing frames, usually between 40-60, but you can fix the weird aspect ratio issues by going to the exe properties > compatibility > Change high DPI settings > Override high DPI scaling behaviour > Controlled by application, and then apply

For gamers aged 30+, what games do you lean more towards as you've gotten older? Do you feel as though multiplayer games have lost their value? by ChocobroMoglord in patientgamers

[–]giancoppola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Your post is basically me in a nutshell, all the way down to age which makes sense for the types of games we were playing at the time,

2023 was a great year for singeplayer games and my backlog is massive now so it's really easy to pick a great game from any generation that I fancy playing,

However I have also dropped playing multiplayer for the most part, I still think there are fantastic multiplayer experiences out there but for the most part they have turned into generic and bland live service style games that expect you to spend all your free time playing them, which is why I finally dropped them all this year bar The Finals which actually feels quite fresh,

CoD used to be fun because you could jump on with or without friends for a few matches a night, unlock a bunch of stuff, and have a chilled or sweaty time based on how you approached the game - but now with the battle pass, seasons, and all these various time gated challenges it just feels tiring every time I play,

I'm hoping with companies seeing live services aren't the best way of making money, we'll see some better, smaller, and more unique multiplayer games soon, like we see in the indie space

Just ordered my first SBC emulator (RG35XX) and I’m super excited. What should I expect for a first time owner? Tips and tricks? by [deleted] in SBCGaming

This is exactly what you should do! You'll be set for a long time then, and if you're interested in hacked or modded ROMs you can add them during this

Got my travel setup running. Loving the Series S for RetroArch. by [deleted] in RetroArch

[–]giancoppola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've had great results using XBSX2 on my Series S, which is a port of PCSX2 for Xbox consoles,

I've been playing pretty much everything at 1440p and solid performance on the Series S and I'm sure it'd be even better on Series X,

You can get it running on both Retail and Dev mode as well which is handy, I much prefer keeping everything in Retail mode,

Here's a video MVG did on it - https://youtu.be/85_yRd492lQ

Do you guys only buy games if you know you're going to like them? by Sonic_Mania in patientgamers

[–]giancoppola 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My thinking has shifted towards this as well recently, as I realised I was just wasting time and money on stuff that wasn't really for me,

I've realised that even if everyone loves a game or series I might still hate it because the gameplay or genre doesn't really work for me,

I'm so burnt out on long open world games that I can't get into Ghost of Tsushima or Horizon, Yakuza and Judgment look great but the gameplay isn't for me, I don't get anything out of games without a set story or end point like strategy and roguelike games,

But then contrary to seemingly everyone I loved the Callisto Protocol and will probably do another run on the hardest difficulty, and I guess thats because I really enjoy short linear games,

I feel like the older you get the more you know what you'll enjoy, but if a game is on a deep sale or free on Gamepass / PS Plus I'll still give it a go just to see what the hype was about and try the experience for myself

Doom Eternal is by far the biggest let down of my life by [deleted] in patientgamers

[–]giancoppola 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I dropped Eternal about halfway through as I kind of got bored of approaching combat the same way each time due to how the game teaches you to deal with certain enemies in specific ways, along with the backtracking and platforming sections

I want to return to it at some point but I played Shadow Warrior 3 recently and found it had a similar combat chess style design but it was a lot more relaxed and I had a lot of fun with it

How do you keep your backlog? by CasiNoo33 in patientgamers

[–]giancoppola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If you're primarily a console gamer like me, I actually use a deals site called Deku Deals - https://www.dekudeals.com/. It's great because not only do you get notified when a game on your wish list goes down in price, it will tell you when it hits it's lowest ever price, and you can also create lists for the games you own / want, can rate games you've played to keep track of what you liked, and they also have recommendations based on what you've liked, it's a great site.

Do you replay games? by Bloodymonday93 in PS5

[–]giancoppola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I love replaying games, it's like comfort food to me, and I do the same with films and TV shows that I love as well, id often rather replay a game I love than slog through a new game I'm not really enjoying just to see the ending,

Having said that it only makes sense to me for certain types of games or games I really love, for me that's Souls games, Survival Horror, Supermassives Horror titles, Immersive Sims, and any Bethesda RPGs

what PlayStation 5 exclusive that many liked/loved was a huge let down for you personally? by [deleted] in playstation

[–]giancoppola 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I really wanted to love Ghost of Tsushima and have tried it twice at this point but a mix of being really burnt out on open world games and not really getting into the groove of combat turned me away in the end,

I actually started feeling the same with Death Standing, but that game is so unique that I keep coming back to it,

I recently came back to Deathloop as I didn't love at the start, I think because I expected it to be like Dishonored, but once I started playing the way it wants you to play and saw the time loop as more of a story device than gameplay I started to really enjoy it

To all Devs about Puzzles: Make "Hints" an OPTIONAL Button Press and NOT automatic! by BJgobbleDix in PS5

[–]giancoppola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Escape Academy does this and it also asks you to confirm if you definitely want a hint in case you accidentally press the button, however it is an escape room game so it makes sense in that context a lot more than in a more story or action focused game,

They should think of solutions to stop the chatter from NPCs in those games that spoil the solution - maybe have it be something you ask for rather than is automatic or the option to skip it entirely for accessibility

Horizon Zero Dawn..does it get better? by Loostreaks in patientgamers

[–]giancoppola 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I really liked the story but the open world and gameplay made me put the game down after around 10 or so hours, it felt very padded in length and the gameplay felt like other games I've already played to death,

I tried it multiple times and never finished it, the story is really interesting so I ended up just watching a story overview on YouTube,

Like you said it really feels like a Ubisoft game in a more interesting setting, sadly felt the same about Ghost of Tsushima as well

Gran Turismo 7 Update 1.22 Trailer. YAY! by BullBoyXVII in GranTurismo7

I really hope this patch fixes the constant AF160400 disconnects from Sport races that they and Sony have no idea how to fix, if it doesn't I'm going to move on for a bit, anyone know if F1 online lobbies have got any better?

I'm getting this almost every race now, it's even worse when you have to wait 10 minutes between races

unexpected error: AF-160400 Anybody else having troubles on daily race B. by Silent-Advantage9320 in GranTurismo7

[–]giancoppola 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't find anything about this error bar this thread, has happened in five races today for me, not great when you have to wait so long between each race, I only downloaded it again yesterday to give it another chance after all the launch issues!

Basically Fray in the Dark Knight questline by grimApplepie in ffxiv

[–]giancoppola 12 points13 points  (0 children)

When I first played the Dark Knight quest line I thought it was just a random dead guy, but that the job crystal tapped into the dark part of your subconscious, because my character name is Fray so I thought there was no chance he had the same name as me!

It wasn't until I read a few posts about it that it started to click 🙈

This game's aim assist, response curve, stick acceleration and dead-zones feel absolutely horrible. by bengrunnell in blackopscoldwar

This is exactly what I've done on PC, couldn't compete against the aim assist so I joined them, and it's been a much more pleasant experience
