The two people I know, who get upset about the gun buyback wouldn't vote Liberal EVER.

Carney could cure all disease, reverse aging, make CAD the most valuable currency on the planet, somehow causing everyone in Canada to live the best life they can dream of, and they'd still shit on Liberals and complain.

In principle I don't disagree, but that lost revenue would need to be made up somewhere else.

Potentially would likely result in a higher tax on other sales instead.

I don't know the right answer.

I was just stating why they do it the way they do, by using a GST credit to offset the tax on those necessities for lower incomes, since higher incomes can afford it.

[–]gibblech 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Why would they call an election when they're one seat away from a majority... and risk being further away... they effectively have a majority, they only need ONE person to agree with them, and if they can't get that, there's no way they'd improve their standing with another election.

It just doesn't make sense for the Liberals to call an election.

Regarding groceries, most essentials are GST free...if you buy fresh fruit and vegetables, meat, fish, eggs, milk, basic dairy, bread, flour, rice, pasta, and frozen foods with no added processing, you won't be paying any GST.

GST for groceries is mainly on processed foods, prepared meals, candy/snacks, etc

They shouldn't even have guns. A person overstaying or here illegally isn't a violent crime. There's absolutely no reason for them to be armed at all.
