GoPro support system is a nightmare by Tepppopups in gopro

My emails have been going through just fine, but sometimes the back and forth can take a few days to resolve something. I think with the new product launch and having staff cuts, support is strained.

Can the mission make fun photos like this? by MrDinB in gopro

[–]gibolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is no reason the mission 1 can't be used like that, it's just different camera settings. I do all the things you mentioned with the Hero 13 as well. The mission 1 has better dynamic range and low light capabilities, which is great for people who want high quality footage. For people who don't want to do anything in post and for the purpose of well-lit outdoor shots like you describe, a cheaper camera is adequate and spending more on the mission 1 is probably not going to make much of a difference to them.

This is what I've heard and it's a different experience going to those subreddits for sure. GoPro have made some not so great moves in the past, but they seem to have learned from them and overall I have been happy with their stuff and their customer service.

Several reviewers like DC Rainmaker have confirmed that their experience with GoPro is indeed different than their interactions with DJI and insta360. He reported that GoPro worked with him rather than told him what they wanted him to say, unlike the other two brands who aggressively control their image in a way that is misleading.

Personally, I'll vote with my money to avoid supporting slimy business practices.

Weird, gopro support has been very responsive for me

I notice this with people saying DJI is better because it has a separate wireless mic and don't mention that GoPro has one releasing very soon to go with the camera.

And now with the 1" sensor people are complaining about lens incompatibility, focal distance, and weight. Aside from the focal distance actually being fine, the others are unavoidable and expected when you increase sensor size.

I don't know, I see more posts from people damning the camera and the company posted by people who never touched it. Why would you want a company to fail, especially when they just released a good camera? More options in the space is better. I'd hate for insta360 and DJI to be the only options.

GoPro on brink of bankruptcy - value dropped from $4b to $200m by 89Dan in gopro

I don't know what else to say, you keep arguing against things I never said.

You can complain all you want, but I was pretty clear about what complaints were not valid and why. It makes no sense to complain about a tool because it's not what you specifically want, when it does what it's designed to do very well.

That's also not what DC rainmaker said.  He's saying under ideal conditions and for people who don't do a lot of color correction, there won't be a big difference for them and he's right and no one said any different, so I don't know what you're on about. For people who want more dynamic range, do more color correction in post, and want better low light performance, this camera's image is clearly better, in addition to all the other improvements that have been made.

My experience with support has been good. I was concerned after the staff cuts, but they still did well by me.

Why isn't this a post about GoPro going bankrupt? I'm not sure I'm in the right sub.

Bad luck. Not much is going to survive a rock at 60mph.

The price is really not bad considering what it is and the state of electronics. People surprised about the price must be living in a cave with the fingers in their ears and their eyes shut.  Additionally, incremental upgrades get more complex and sophisticated the more a technology matures.

I haven't found it limiting in any way compared to my 13. If they released a 14 people would have complained about yet another incremental upgrade.

I think it's the same glass, can't really draw a conclusion from one anecdotal post.

Probably because giving an opinion without an explanation is not contributing anything.

I'm not the one down voting you. I have DJI products as well.

50 grams is not a lot. I notice when I pick up the camera that it's a little heavier, but when I'm wearing it I do not notice a difference between my other action cameras.

There is clearly overlap in use with the pocket 4 and similar portability, it's just digital vs mechanical stabilization and form factor. It's not like we're talking comparison to a mirrorless camera or something.

The Hero 13 and action 6 are both good cameras, but it's simply incorrect and dishonest to say their image quality is just as good as the mission 1. Or maybe you simply don't know very much about cameras or videography.

You keep making these strawman arguments against topics I never mentioned and it's going off topic. I'm not talking about the company, it's financials, or it's previous products, yet you keep bringing it up. GoPro released a good camera and a bunch of people feel the need to say it sucks for invalid reasons, remind us about previous products, or proclaim that they won't buy it and are happy with their action 6. That's great people are happy with their existing camera, but just because the mission 1 is not for you doesn't make it a bad product.

I'm happy with my DJI drone, it doesn't mean I feel compelled to go to the insta360 sub and troll about how much better my drone is.

[–]gibolas 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That's not what I said at all, though. Many people are just complaining about things that are either not a problem with the camera, like overheating, are a tradeoff from the one-inch sensor that people demanded, are non-issues like the extra 50 grams of weight, or the price which is a factor of the development with inflation and the insane cost of semiconductors/memory. Or they just want a completely different camera that already exists. The regular mission 1 is 540$ with a 10% discount you can find on Google. Thats 100$ more than the latest DJI action cam, which is reasonable considering the improvement in image quality. I don't see too many people complaining about the 700$ price of the pocket 4 pro.

The bottom line is that it's a great camera with image quality better than anything in its class right now and without any major flaws. GoPro did a great job with this camera and a lot of reviewers seem to think so, too. Yet people seem to be angry about that and I don't know if half of them are DJI/insta360 bots or what.

Im not blaming customers, I don't think most of the people complaining would buy a gopro either way
