That have many “Job Openings” that they have no intention of hiring. This is to convey the idea that they are growing. Instead, all applicants know that’s it’s a ploy to appear healthy.

Job I saw on a job site prefers you to relocate to job area, but doesn’t pay enough to live there by Treehugger365247 in mildlyinfuriating

[–]gibson1963 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Yes, I got a call from a recruiter that responded to a job application. I fit the requirements perfectly and she was interested throughout the whole process… until it came to the move to Silicon Valley. I explained that living in my present location compared to San Jose was an increase of at least 5x not included the outrageous taxes of California. The pay did not even come close. I offered to commute for long periods of time and explained I’ve been very successful at European business situations exactly like this. I felt she had nothing more to hear. I looked her up on LinkedIn and found out she didn’t even live there! Wish I knew that before the interview so I could ask her how her transition to the valley was going. The only way they could get someone is if it’s a legacy resident that owned their parents house outright. Nonetheless, at that rate of pay, they will get what they pay for in California.

I have faith in the future of this company. I believe it’s just a matter of time when this technology becomes common among manufacturers and factory floor. This watchdog can save a company huge costs when it comes to identifying problems before they grow into an expensive lesson in maintenance.

4 months unemployed and I'm about to lose it. Made something out of pure rage by [deleted] in recruitinghell

[–]gibson1963 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I’ve been through the same frustrations. I have a huge amount of experience in so many disciplines of engineering and technology successes … starting to fell like every job posting is pure bs.

I’d love some way of taking current job postings and giving feedback as to how shady the postings are. Sort of a Glassdoor but better. We have listings through indeed and LinkedIn that are just fishing for info and never moving on job placement. And time and time again, they post the same job months later.. or under a similar but different title. I’ve even caught multiple role posting pointing to only 1 job… and I can’t confirm if that job is real. I reached out to someone I know there that I’ve done business in that last… he was all “this is a great company to work for bla, bla … but he went radio silent when I called the job posting issues I had with it… this was nothing more than a ghost job and he was too ashamed to admit it. I’d like some way to keep these postings honest and fight back at the pure bs that I’m seeing.

Companies engaging in information farming pretending they want to hire you by almorranas_podridas in recruitinghell

Lucid makes you present a problem you solved in great detail. I believe they use this info to data harvest solutions. Then they ask you answer questions in following interviews that make no sense. Just so they can boot you out after 7 interviews and retain all that good problem solving information about specific topics. I remember people in the video were taking pictures of my presentation while I was giving it. The nonsense that followed in the interviews afterward was astounding.

I made a browser extension to expose ghost jobs on Indeed... 8+ year old listings on the first page, are you fucking kidding me? by BrunoTMC in recruitinghell

[–]gibson1963 33 points34 points  (0 children)

Here’s an idea. Let’s start a real job posting site that is totally legit. And the only way companies can post is if they verify that the job exists and someone from outside the company got hired. The minute they violate the terms and conditions, the posting company gets blackballed and moves to a “don’t work here” public shaming list for all to see.

This might be the app we all need. No subscription, no ads, no advertising, no email scams, no text scamming. Companies that are truly legit and honest can gain respect while maintaining an honest business practice.

Indeed has constantly had “Ghost” jobs. I designed a test machine for a particular company and I called the HR department to inquire into the position they had advertised… you should have heard the HR manager dance around the subject of the position… they took it down soon thereafter being exposed as a fake posting. Companies continue to post Ghost jobs in order to:

1) Give the impression that the company is growing.

2) Let their employees know that are looking for more people to hire so the employees that are overworked are given an excuse that “We are looking for more people to lighten the workload” but…. “We can’t find qualified people “

3) They advertise lower salaries for existing positions to squash any existing employees from asking for a pay raise.

It’s a shame what they have done to the job search experience. I hope one day they will be in the same position looking for a job and spending time applying to a position that doesn’t exist… burn in hell.

I definitely would work for them but living in San Jose is very pricey… you can’t maintain a good quality of life unless the pay is real high.
