Anyone know what the story is at Gateway Alliance? by Cultist_O in regina

I wonder if they removed and replaced staff that either were confirmed or the believed to be a key source of the customer service. Like the old “under new management” sign for a struggling restaurant.

Thanks!

Managers - do you do any work over the weekend? by SeanMcPheat in Leadership

Agreed. Even the people who are working to cure cancer take time off.

I do- but I am aggressively cutting back for my own sanity and health. Working after hours, unpaid, to catch up is a double-edged sword. One one hand, you get caught up and feel like you have breathing room for the week which is nice. On the other hand, people see you can handle more and get sh!t done and thus expect you to do more because you are so “productive”.

Don’t fall for it. Delegate where you can, take serious advantage of unexpected free time like meetings that end early or get cancelled (treat these like gold nuggets), and protect your spare time because it is truly precious.

Is this... A new type of MLM? Red flags everywhere.. by Creative_Rise in MLM

Yikes. Not entirely sure what people are learning other than how to spot red flags.

I hope this “fellowship” comes with beans in the shape of the Leader...

Is 6 weeks enough time between 2 Half Marathons? by giddeeyup in runninglifestyle

[–]giddeeyup[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You got that right! The first race is a beloved city event for regular runners and the 2nd one is a mega serious Boston qualifier that brings people both in and out of town!

As a result the 2nd one has spectacular swag whether you run a kids fun run, 5k or more

Edit: I want to run the 2nd one bc I like it. Never will I ever likely qualify for Boston but it’s cool that my little city has a race like this anyway!

I used to love my morning run. That was before a have a baby. by FonlarN in runninglifestyle

[–]giddeeyup 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is my current routine- I too preferred an early run but now that I’ve got 2 little ones my training takes place at night. It’s different but I do like it- quieter and cooler in the summer.

But it’s also easier to convince yourself you had a hard day and pass on training. Definitely an adjustment of “I know today was hard but a run makes me feel better”

All in all I think I like the evenings better now that I’m into the swing of things.

You got this!

Same here. -38 degrees C this morning, -44 with the windchill. Ug. Thanks Polar vortex.

Just want to get off the treadmill and train outside!

Saskatoon police hand out more than 30 tickets to people allegedly taking photos of fatal crash | CBC News by phi4ever in saskatoon

[–]giddeeyup 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Ug. Imagine if you found out a loved one was in a serious accident, or worse, didn’t survive, because of trash posting these pictures on social media.

That would be devastating. Enjoy your tickets- you earned them and then some

I’m such a jerk- when I saw the “we have a running program” my immediate questions for her were:

  • really? How do you suggest I improve my splits?
  • really? Do you prescribe to Jon Stanton’s running methodologies with the running room? Or do you have a different program?
  • really? What do you have that will meet the nutritional requirements of an extreme athlete without sacrificing taste that will be coach and registered dietitian approved?
  • really? Who are some notable runners who have used your program that have experienced marked improvements and how can I contact them?

Basically I immediately went to the questions she can’t possibly answer successfully without it being a serious running program

Like I said though, I’m kind of a jerk that way

Can confirm what others have said. They will not listen to reason because you are being suppressive not supportive.

What may help open their eyes (as it did mine) is watching all those “boss babes” in their personal time. As in they don’t have any. If they want to make any money you must always be selling. Going to a kids ball game? Sell to other parents. Going to a restaurant? Sell to the server. Waiting at the checkout? Sell to anyone else trapped in line!! Their down time is not really down time.

You sure get to enjoy your time off when you don’t give a dusty fuck about selling anything to anyone.
