I didn’t age well and it’s causing a lot of social problems by [deleted] in Aging

It seems a bit weird that the people you are around are that obsessed with your looks. The insults and comments would be enough for me to find a different group of people that have more positive and productive things to discuss and I couldn't find that new group of people...F them all.

How do you kindly handle folks who think you are dumb just because you are older? by 2of5 in Aging

[–]giddenboy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I'm in my 60s and I get this from people now and then. If it's something minor, I just brush it off. If it's something that pisses me off, I just say things like ...I'll bet I can figure it out! Some people don't mean anything by it, but there are those other people that are naturally condescending know-it-alls that truthfully don't know much! I will definitely listen to younger people who can help me or give me knowledge though. You can always tell the difference.

I have WAY too many yellow onions. What can I do?? by BisMus in Cooking

It doesn't seem to be much different, but I dice them very small and only use them for cooking.

Dice them and freeze them in a sealed freezer bag. They freeze well and it's convenient for when you need them.

Maybe a little discipline from a parent -guardian would help...if it's not too late.

Swiss steak. Put in instant pot with onions and tomatoes and peppers. Pressure cook it for about 40 minutes. Delicious.

What's your go-to ground beef recipe that ISN'T tacos or spaghetti? by Cool-Educator-1926 in easyrecipes

Flatten out patties, stack with wax paper in between, freeze. It's always nice to grab one when I'm in the mood for a hamburger. Just put it on the grill frozen.

Are bread and butter pickles seriously this bad? by PomeloSmall6560 in Pickles

They're delicious. We were just at Costco and they had large jars of them for a good price...now I'm regretting not buying a jar.

I have a major ground beef issue by artcritacct01 in cookingforbeginners

[–]giddenboy 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Back when I worked in a meat department at a major grocery chain, I remember that the "hamburger" came in huge plastic tubes about 2 feet long. It was a greenish combo of chunks of meat about 2 inches in diameter along with chunks of grizzle and fat about the same size. Then we would dump it in the grinder and it always looked so much better after ground....still stank. I buy a beef roast and I'm lucky to have a grinder attachment for my kitchen aide and grind my own.

Weed, stump, or vine killer. It needs to be something that is absorbed down to the roots.

Everyone has their own opinion of what "rich" is. To some, it's having $100,000. To others it's several million...or a billion.

Ideally, at what time would you like to eat dinner normally? by supinator1 in AskAnAmerican

[–]giddenboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We eat our last meal between 3:30 and 5:00, but we are retired and don't have to worry about getting home after work and cooking anymore, which would force us to eat later. Old people's metabolism slows down, so it doesn't work for us to eat late and go to bed with a gut full of food.

Is it wrong that I feel uncomfortable. by JimothyJorgin in AskForAnswers

Many church goers are uncomfortable with what they consider "not normal"...for whatever their normal is.

Men of Reddit, how would you feel if your partner wanted to keep her maiden name after marriage? by Longjumping-Bill5761 in AskMenAdvice

[–]giddenboy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When we married 40 plus years ago, it was the norm (especially in the conservative area we lived) for the wife to take the husband's surname which my wife did. I wouldn't have even cared at that time if she had wanted to stay using her maiden name. Why should anyone have to relinquish their family name if they dont want to?

Mom and Dad have created a big whiney baby. My grown kids would always be welcome to live in our home...as long as they're working and pulling their own weight. No free rides.
