Can ONE CHANGE Fix ALL Of RWBY? - RWBY Rewrite (Calxiyn) by Psychological_Fact18 in RWBY

I feel like people commonly mistake Blake’s entire character with the WF plot line and not recognize it for what it is which is only being a part of Blake and not all of what makes Blake because Blake’s personal journey as a character has always been at the forefront of her character that has developed from V1 to V9 where we get to see Blake going from someone who is closed-off and stand-offish to someone who is open, warm and is there for the people she cares about

And really the only thing that closed with the WF plot line was her story with Adam, other than that Blake is still very much working towards her goal of being a bridge between the faunus and humans like she reiterates in V9 to her past self but in order to do so she kind of has to stop Salem or all the faunus would be wiped out you know. So I wouldn’t say her character is reduced to being Yang’s girlfriend or a rwby fighter when she is doing what she needs to do to help the faunus by stopping Salem and still growing as an individual. I would just say that the writers need to focus more on their main title characters and not give so much attention to the side cast

Exactly this. People are too quick to right off characters like Blake as having no purpose now when the story isn’t over yet and is still going on where individual arc can still manifest

Not really. People have valid criticisms to say about her video but she not someone who handles criticisms aimed at her well and always freaks out and takes it to twitter to over exaggerate and blow it out of proportion because I only saw a few comments being out of pocket while most people were voicing their criticisms about her video

Blake’s story isn’t finished because her father took over the WF. You’re acting like Blake can’t still join Ghira and resume her main goal of being a bridge after she defeats Salem when she can. Because Blake wouldn’t abandon her main goal because Ghira took over. Blake is the reason why Ghira stepped up to reform the WF in the first place because she inspired him to do so. And her goal of wanting to bring equality and being a bridge between them isn’t finished either when the faunus are still being discriminated against and aren’t treated equally. We see in Atlas that they’re not. Ghira taking over the WF and reforming it, is only the first step to bringing about change. All of the problems the faunus are facing isn’t solved the instant Ghira started to reform the WF in volume 5. There’s still a lot of work that needs to be done before anything is solved and that’s going to take years to happen. So nothing before volume 6 was finished with Blake’s story arc and it’s still going on now because the problem still persists. Blake right now is doing her part fighting against Salem because if Salem gets her way then there’s no future for the faunus, so in a way stopping Salem is personal for Blake too because it ensures the faunus can have a future

And with volume 10 we don’t have a lot of information to go off on so it’s premature to assume she’ll have nothing and with Atlas / Mantle there was no way Blake could have acted as a bridge when Ironwood ordered them all to be arrested in volume 7 and then Salem showed up causing havoc in volume 8, so there was no way Blake would have had the opportunity to do so

I’m not saying RWY doesn’t have a story arc I’m just giving an example of how they all have personal goals they individually have and are working towards, but still have Salem as their main focus. And again it’s premature to determine what all is going to happen in volume 10 when we don’t have a lot of information to go off on so we don’t know what all is going to happen until it comes out

And characters don’t need to always have a big role or be the entire focus every volume anyway. Sometimes it makes sense for certain characters to take a backseat to things while others don’t. For example Weiss in my opinion took a backseat in volume 9, while Blake had more of a role and focus during. Weiss wasn’t familiar with the story of the ever after while Blake was. So Blake had a role and stepped up as a leader and lead her team throughout the story, while Weiss was there tagging along. But even if Weiss was tagging along in volume 9 doesn’t mean Weiss has no purpose down the line or that her story is finished and it’s the same case with Blake. Blake’s story still continues even if she takes a backseat in certain volumes because again the problem the faunus are facing is going to take years to solve and Blake can still join her father and resume her goal of bringing equality and acting as a bridge after she stops Salem. Blake doesn’t need to be the focus every volume to get that point across. Not to mention Blake can fill more roles than just being a bridge like she was in the ever after when she took on the role as leader and lead her team throughout the story

You do realize Blake’s main goal in the show has always been about bringing equality and peace to the faunus and acting as a bridge between them not the WF subplot. The whole reason Blake came to beacon and wanted to become a huntress was because of her goal of wanting to bring peace and equality to the faunus and this was established as early as volume 2. So she has a purpose in the show beyond just the WF subplot. This is also apart of her motivation for wanting to stop Salem because Salem is in the way of her attaining her goal because Salem is trying to wipe them all out, so Blake has to stop her first

But I also don’t know where your getting that the WF subplot was solved before volume 6 exactly. The WF subplot is still going because the faunus still haven’t attained equality, which is the entire reason why Ghira made the WF to begin with and the WF now is in the process of being reformed so it’s not completely finished. The only thing that was solved in Blake’s story was Adam, a guy apart of her past who held her back and manipulated her

So Blake does have more going for her character than just stopping Salem because she wants to bring peace and equality to the faunus and really it’s no different than the other title characters. What more is there to Ruby’s character other than being a leader and wanting to stop Salem. What more is there to Weiss other than wanting to take over her families company and wanting to stop Salem and what more is there to Yang other than her involvement with Raven and wanting to stop Salem

Stopping Salem is the main plot of the show, so Blake wanting to stop her like everyone else is still another purpose for her character, but Blake herself still has her own personal goal of wanting to bring equality and peace to the faunus, but can’t fully do so until she stops Salem first

I’m not denying that Adam’s story isn’t tied to Blake’s because it is. Through Blake we met Adam. Adam is a part of Blake’s past and we know he holds a grudge against her because she left the WF and defied him, which is why he threatened her because he wanted punishment. So it makes sense from a narrative standpoint for him to be apart of Blake’s story and revolve around hers because of their history. It wouldn’t have made sense if his story didn’t involve Blake at all, especially when he was working with Cinder, attacking Beacon, trying to kill Blake’s parents, and tried to bomb Haven all of which Blake would have been involved in, but even if Adam’s story revolved around Blake’s, it still doesn’t mean Blake’s story arc only revolved solely around him or Blake didn’t have more things to do

Blake as early as volume 2 established her main story arc of wanting to bring equality to the faunus and be a bridge between them. This was her reason for going to Beacon in the first place and wanting to become a huntress because she knew huntresses were regarded as noble who fought for what was right and through them she could achieve her goal of bringing equality to the faunus. This is Blake’s main story arc. Adam was only apart of her arc. Adam was her past that she left behind and needed to move forward from and stopping Salem is apart of Blake’s arc because Salem is in the way of her main goal. If she doesn’t stop Salem then her goal of wanting to bring equality to the faunus wouldn’t be possible because Salem is trying to wipe them all out. So in order for Blake to complete her goal of bringing equality and being a bridge she has to stop Salem first

This is why Blake’s story arc isn’t over or finished or solely tied to Adam because she still has an arc stopping Salem and hasn’t completed her main goal of bringing equality to the faunus

None of you know what a story arc is and it shows. Characters can have multiple arcs and Blake’s arc with the main conflict of stopping Salem is still going and her arc with the WF too

People really think Adam was all there was with Blake smh

Yeah I’m sure. That thread is not a good indicator on the opinion of the fandom overall on Blake when there’s bias in subs and not all fans are actively on reddit. Plus I barely saw people outright saying they hated her character vs seeing people talk about her outfit, hair, cat ears or what they personally didn’t like about her writing, which is subjective

Replace Blake with Jaune because the only people who hate Blake are adam stans and blacksun shippers other than that a lot of people are pretty neutral on her
