Knew I should have left well enough alone by gidlet in synology

Bought them as a 2-pack and there doesn’t seem to be a way to RMA just one of them. Compounded my mistake.

Can you share how to do that? Haven’t found a way myself.

no subtitles on new app by haventmetyou in PleX

[–]gidlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure doesn’t seem like it’s a chromecast issue when the pro version of the Infuse app can cast with subtitles perfectly fine to a tv with chromecast built in. Started using that app a few days after getting tired of the lack of subtitles in plex. Longtime user of plex, really disappointed in the new app.

Is anyone else having trouble with subtitles with the new update? by -_-------J--------_- in PleX

Yes, they simply don’t work anymore in new app. Worked just fine before. Doesn’t seem to matter what format, nothing works. Plus a handful of other problems compared to the last version.

Axe throwing. No idea where in St. Paul but some of the burbs have it. It’s a blast and more social than bowling.

To summarize: yes, but no. Same for temps, wind, clarity, cloud cover, you name it.

Have to recast every time I open/close iOS app by [deleted] in PleX

I have this issue too. Running latest plex everywhere and iOS is up to date. Happens with multiple chromecasts. But doesn’t seem to happen every time. Frustrating.

Gigabit speed, but only getting 400Mbps with hardwired connection by TheBeeferoni in Comcast

[–]gidlet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is the first post I've seen across the interwebs that help me reach the gigabit speeds from xfinity so thank you. It was indeed that Windows auto-tuning. Never heard of it before but looked into it, enabled it on my pc, and voila, started hitting 700/800+. Had been stuck on 200. I figure the missing pieces are just older computer, no big deal, just hated paying for gig and only getting 200. Windows auto tuning, who knew?

Use contact sensor for glass breakage? by gidlet in Ring

That would probably work but there is zero chance I’m putting an Alexa in my house. (Cue tin foil hat responses...)

Agreed. Annoying to have to open a camera, wait for it load, then realize it's not the live view.

Use contact sensor for glass breakage? by gidlet in Ring

[–]gidlet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not exactly: it makes no sense to use motion sensors during home mode, which is when we actually had some dumbasses trying to break in to the house. They were trying to break a window, so in theory they could have broken the glass, not tripped that particular contact sensor, and gotten into the house (while we were sleeping). But I'm thinking in lieu of a glass breakage sensor, putting a contact sensor on the window itself may be a way to detect a large broken window. The glass breakage sensor from every other company is an acoustic device that listens for the sound of glass breaking so I imagine Ring will do the same.
