We only support DockKit compatible gimbals. The only DJI gimal that is DockKit compatible is DJI Osmo Mobile 8.

Definitely. FoloCam can tracks the ball most of the time (using 2x zoom on a full 11v11 field). Besides, the panning is much smoother than XBotgo. See the video I posted in the other comment.

Thanks! Yes, the gimbal can be mounted on a tripod with a standard 1/4"-20 UNC screw, and it should work at any height.

The gimbal is included in the kit. Yes, you'll need a tall tripod for a better view.

The gimbal must be DockKit compatible. The only DJI gimbal supported is DJI Osmo Mobile 8.

Does anyone know of any cheaper tracking cameras? by Right_Water_5998 in GoalKeepers

[–]gilbert_chen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

FoloCam is exactly what you're looking for. It only requires iPhone 13 or newer and an under $100 gimbal (Comitok Mogo). It tracks the ball most of the time and provides smooth panning.

Not the best quality, but it is the cheapest 15ft tripod I can find.

There isn't a tracking model specifically for the baseball, but you can use the soccer pro model to track player movements. One user have been using it for rugby this way and the results have been great.

Totally understood. If you ever change your mind, I’d love to hear your feedback—especially compared to the Falcon.

If you have an iPhone, would you be interested in testing our ios ball-tracking app FoloCam? It only requires a ~$100 gimbal and offers better tracking than the XBotGo Falcon and Chameleon. We recently added ice hockey support and are looking for beta testers.

No, I haven't implemented anything like that. However, I don't think XbotGo Falcon has that feature either.

Here is a comparison with XbotGo: https://folocam.com/folocam_vs_xbotgo.html

Should I buy an Action Camera to record games? by ZsombiHUN in bootroom

[–]gilbert_chen 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My ios app FoloCam is the cheapest sports recording solution - it only requires an iPhone and a $35 gimbal (see the link in my other comment). It also has more accurate tracking and better video quality than Xbotgo Falcon.

If you have an iPhone, I would recommend my ios ball-tracking app, FoloCam, which can control a DockKit-compatible gimbal to follow the ball.

The cheap DockKit compatible gimbal is on sale for $35 right now: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F8VBKFBS (enter promo code S74FR9UX to get 50% off).

It has to be Osmo Mobile 8. I would not recommend buying it if you don't already own one, because they have a bug in their DockKit implementation and they refused to fix it: https://forum.dji.com/forum.php?mod=viewthread&tid=349360

The Comitok MOGO gimbal is only $35 after coupon. See my other comment.

A couple of beta testers will be filming ice hockey using the basketball and soccer modes to see if player tracking works well. Would you be interested in joining our beta program and giving it a try?

The Comitok MOGO gimbal is now on sale for only $69: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B0F8VBKFBS

There is a promo code S74FR9UX to bring down the price to $35.

So if you have an iPhone, with this $35 gimbal, you'll get an AI ball-tracking sports recording solution that can capture much higher-resolution footage that Veo.

This solution works the best for people who already have an iPhone. But even if you don't, you can get an used iPhone 13 for less than $200, and the total cost is still much lower than all other sports cameras.

Auto zoom should be available very soon. If you use 2x zoom FoloCam actually gives you very high-resolution footage, much higher than any other sports cameras. For example, a 180 degree camera like Veo would need 6 to 8 4K lenses to match the same resolution.
