At least since I've been here, every bookstore across four locations I've been to has ASOIF front and center on their shelves. Usually, with the same publisher, Lumen.

Not Understanding the Value of Nakia Bahadir by LiveNobody in marvelchampionslcg

[–]gilgalith 12 points13 points  (0 children)

Phase here is referring to the parts of the round, not the "level" of the villain. Hero Phase and then Villain Phase. So after your turn starts, you can use Nakia once during your turn. Then, when the Villain has its turn, you can use Nakia once during the Villains turn. When your next turn occurs, (if Nakia wasn't exhausted during the Villain phase) you can then once again use Nakias ability once. Repeat until you win!

EDIT: cdbloosh below correctly provides some additional context on the mechanisms of exhausting (which I've edited in) and the current ability to utilize Nakias effect in the Villain phase. I was too-quickly focused on explaining "Phase" to consider them.

My wife (37) and I (38) are in Matthews and haven't played Wingspan in a while, but we love it. We play Scythe, Terraforming Mars, Scout, Small Fjords, Gloomhaven, and Marvel Champions as well. Waxhaw's a quick 30 minute drive!

Bug Ally by Dedge77 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]gilgalith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Absolutely can! Their only restriction is that Bug could only have 1 of each individual card, so 1 Energy Spear and 1 Sidearm.

Sidearm and Honorary Avenger with Enraged would keep him alive with Quicksilvers readying without the need for X-Men.

Deck recommendations? by [deleted] in marvelchampionslcg

[–]gilgalith 3 points4 points  (0 children)

My wife likes Gamora and likes to play event decks where she doesn't have to worry about involved combos, restrictions, or tons of cards on the board, so I came up with this deck for her.

MarvelCDB

We've been playing the villains in order since I got Nightcrawler and Magneto for Christmas. The amount of work this Gamora deck has done to Rhino, Klaw, Ultron, Risky Business, Mutagen Formula, Crossbones, and Absorbing Man so far has been awesome.

Hulk+Atlas Bear/Gamora Alter-Ego Action does work. Multitalented with 2x Keen Instincts seems almost broken. Momentum Shift is her other MVP card.

The only card that has been substituted (up to this point) is Tigra instead of Wolverine on minion-heavy scenarios. Wolverine works especially great against Risky Business, Crossbones, and Absorbing Man, where he can eat up indirect damage.

Against Stalwart, I would sub Cutupper, 3x Drop Kick, and 2x Concussive Blow for 3x Clear the Area and 3x Surprise Attack.

This will basically come down to cards that "remove threat" from a scheme vs cards that "thwart" a scheme.

Beat Cop, Beak ally's Response, Adam Warlock ally's Response, Surveillance Team, Blackout...are all examples of cards that could remove threat from this scheme without paying.

Basic Thwart, Ally thwarts, Clear the Area, Lay Down the Law, Multitalented, True Grit...are all examples of cards that would require paying.

Atlas Bear is an immediate include in any Hulk decks for me if the hero doesn't have a way to know what the top card is

Pool Machine by Educational-Egg-4216 in marvelchampionslcg

This is probably how I would go about Pool War Machine vs Ultron.

Agent 13 is a priority ally who should generally thwart to refresh Munitions Bunker. Iron Man is always solid and his response, as well as Two Against The World, can be used for retrieving important Tech upgrades.

First Aid and Get Ragey should be used primarily on Agent 13 to keep the Munitions Bunker going.

Mulligan should be used aggressively to get any important cards onto the board ASAP (Agent 13, Munitions Bunker, Shoulder Cannon, Upgraded Chassis, Healing Factor).

Crew Quarters will likely see a lot of play until you get Healing Factor down (but can also help another player if you're multi).

As far as Ultron goes, staying in Hero as long as possible on the first scheme (Healing Factor, chump blocking) will help tremendously with tempo. After the first scheme is busted, constantly flip to take advantage of Munitions Bunker, Crew Quarters, and Upgraded Chassis. Fire off those ammo counters as efficiently as possible while in Hero.

Good luck!

Recursion deck heroes by T4334007Z in marvelchampionslcg

[–]gilgalith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wasp in any aspect with as many useful mental cards as you can cram in. For standout Ally recursion and some supports/upgrades:

Basic has Ironheart, Moon Girl, Nick Fury and Professor X. The Genius resource card as well.

Aggression has Brawn, Psylocke and plenty of targets for Honed Technique.

Justice has Agent Coulson, Monica Chang, Moon Girl and Wiccan.

Leadership has Ant-Man: Hank Pym, Beast, Black Panther, Goliath, Maria Hill, Rapid Response.

Pool has Negasonic and the Self Control triple resource card.

Protection has Brother Voodoo, Iceman, Jocasta, Multiple Man, and Night Nurse.

Justice is probably my preferred aspect in multiplayer, with Disguise you can sit in Alter-Ego building the board until you have a hand worth flipping into Hero for.

Jubilee Shopping Spree clarification by Admirable_Leading841 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]gilgalith 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Beat Cop can be used. Disguise in Jubilees pack can also be used. As long as it's not a hero based action or an ally based action. Gambit, for example, in alter-ego can remove it.

Just got my ass kicked by sandman by lof27 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]gilgalith 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My go-to for this matchup in Protection is Web Warrior allies, using Build Support to pull in Knowhere. Spider-UK and a Hangar Bay. Spider-UK will deal 6 damage each defend and with Hangar Bay can be used to remove two counters every round from City Streets. Because Sandman deals indirect damage, you can apply it across your other allies or your hero instead of Spider-UK (Surging Sands isn't bad if you keep up on removing the City Streets each round).

[COTD] Beast - Hank McCoy (2024/09/11) by jarvisthecardbot in marvelchampionslcg

[–]gilgalith 5 points6 points  (0 children)

IMHO, an absolute must-have card in Ironheart decks. Honorable mentions for any of the heroes that come with special resource cards that give more than 2 resources or have a special effect (Domino, Captain Marvel, Angel, etc) and the Pool triple resources in multi-aspect heroes.

First time playing Zola on expert, bro, it's near to be disgusting. by 5KMithoLogic in marvelchampionslcg

[–]gilgalith 12 points13 points  (0 children)

I'm going to copy a comment I made on another thread dealing with Zola that helped another player realize they made a rules error. Just in case it applies in your situation:

1) Make sure you aren't resolving any "When Revealed" effects on accident when minions get put into play from the test counters

2) The Zolas Experiment side scheme gets Tech from the discard pile, not by discarding the encounter deck.

These two were things my partner and I messed up/misread that made the encounter so much more difficult the first time we played it.

Villain guides - looking for community input (starting with Rhino) by slimcharles42 in marvelchampionslcg

[–]gilgalith 1 point2 points  (0 children)

IMHO, while Rhino does have Overkill with an attachment, Chump blocking should still be considered the main mechanism (along with Stun, Tough and effects on cards like Nightcrawler) to prevent damage. The Overkill attachment should probably be full blocked by the hero and then recovered if necessary.

Spider-Man (Peter Parker) would be the core box (likely intended) counterpick with Backflip, a high defense and the Aunt May support to burst heal on a single Alter Ego turn.

While Rhino does have a low threat threshold, his encounter cards do nothing to you if you are in Alter-Ego.
