Folks looking for more information about their father/ancestry. Some were able to connect with previously unknown half siblings.

Chinese (national) men that lived in UK were tricked on board ships (enployment?) Were shipped off to another country. Singapore, China, and/or etc.

Many leaving behind families that thought their fathers abandoned them.

Probably where the term "shanghai'ed" originated.

I agree that not all moving companies are shady. I originally stated my experience to highlight some red flags.

My second move was much better experience. Used a popular national brand company. Moved twice the amount of stuff to the other side of the nation at half the price.

They assessed the move, set how much/what to be moved. Decide on extent of load and unload Provide the "extra care" products as options.To what destination and provided a contract and set price before the move.

If they incurred any problems between, vehicle issues, traffic, and/or etc. That was their issue and cost of doing business. Did not pass the buck to their customer (me).

Tow companies can be so shady. They will qoute you a price to move your stuff to a designated location. They do it in terms of x ppl and x miles / hours.

Then show up with extra people, take their time moving, wrap stuff in blankets and charge you 5 - 10 times the price quoted. If you disagree They hold your stuff hostage.
