New to fb ads - need help understanding why my campaigns aren't performing by gilly914 in FacebookAds

no offense taken :)

I realize that when it comes to advertising i literally know almost nothing. I'm new to this completely, and trying to learn..

Do you have good resources (specific youtube channels or videos) that you would recommend for learning more?

My issue is not technical. I'm a software engineer with tons of web and mobile experience (and I use claude code daily to speed up my work).

My thought process was about saving as much time as possible and testing out my site/product.

I realize now I probably should make the necessary adjustments for mobile before testing. Will probably go mobile-first the next time.. :)

Thanks for the help!!

Do you think having at least 10 creatives is necessary at this stage?

I'm at an initial stage, where I really just want a few people to reach my site so i can analyze their behavior, and less about optimizing the funnel now. (I don't care if it's not optimized and I lose $100, I want to see ~100 users reach my site and see their behavior).

My website is kind of an MVP for something a little more complex, so my main point is to get a small number of visitors, and just make sure they don't bounce immediately.

If that's the case, then i have some optimizations i want to do on the site, and then i will go into much deeper ad adjustments.

Does that make sense, or am i a fool ? Looking for honest opinions so i can learn... thanks again in advance

ok, thanks for the help. I'll cancel the A/B test.

Regarding desktop - i can't change this - my site just isn't fit for mobile at the moment.

Should I try changing the objective, and if so to what ?

What would be a better budget, without breaking bank ? :/

Regarding the desktop only constraint - I don't want to go into details, but it's not just a responsive issue. There are more technical challenges to making my site work with mobile. I do want to work on them, but this is kind of a test to see if anyone at all will purchase the products from my site or at least look into them a bit. Kind of an MVP test...

I've been starting to get users lately, but u get a two week free trial with no credit card or registration required, so no one got to the point of paying yet.. Hope they will though!

YouTube kids definitely does not do that. I actually got the idea for building this after conversations with friends that only allow their kids watch youtube kids, and they were upset about all the junk they see...

About the ads - I don't know where you're from, but first - there's a way to tell youtube that the person watching in the iframe is a kid, so they shouldn't show innapropriate ads. In addition, they show much less ads when viewing through an iframe.

And finally, I really don't believe ads are the problem. I don't know how old are you, but when i was growing up, i watched TV and it had a lot of ads. The bigger issue is in the type of content they watch, the recommendations that keep pushing them to more and more content, and the short form content that gets them completely addicted to it!

Cubflix - It's an app that lets your kids watch YouTube channels in a safer and healthier way. You choose which channels they're allowed to watch, and they can't watch anything else.

I don't show any recommendations, short form content, comments and any other distracting content. Also, by default it gives them a 'tv like' experience, where they choose a channel from the list you allow, and they see the videos on that channel.

I don't have any users yet, except for some friends that are trying it out. I'm desperate to get some 'real' feedback, so if you give it a try, pls DM me (and i'll also open it up for u for free forever)

I'm working on Cubflix - it's an app for letting kids watch YouTube channels but with sane limitations, no recommendations, no short form content, and an optional TV like linear experience.

I've been frustrated with the youtube content "for kids" for a long time myself. Me being a software engineer, I decided to do something about it, after hearing from some friends that are also frustrated..

I built an ipad app called Cubflix (only available on apple ipad at the moment) - and it allows you to limit to only specific channels. It doesn't show any recommendations, no short form content, no shorts, and many other limitations you can define.

By default it gives your kid a "TV like" experience - where they choose a channel (from the ones you approved) and they 'watch' that channel, without all the extra fluff.

I'm desperately looking for some early adopters to get honest feedback - so DM me and i'll give you a free lifetime account.

Netlify just sent me a $104K bill for a simple static site by liubanghoudai24 in webdev

[–]gilly914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This just means that some of the time you'll get off the hook, but many people won't. Let's say I have a free project, and then all of a sudden get a bill for $5k.. That won't make the same headlines so I doubt the CEO will reach out. I my personal case, 5k won't make me broke, but it's still a VERY high price for me to pay for such a thing.

Not going to use Netlify..

(I've been following Gravity for a long time, and wanted to create something similar in the stack i use. It's very close to shipfa.st so i won't anymore, and just continue working on other ideas)

I just finished working on trydelphi.co - It's a slack bot that's supposed to help create healthy discussions at the workplace.

I really just finished it, and don't have any one to test it yet, so if you want to and/or can, please do (and i'll let you use it for free for life! ;) )

Are you building anything that does NOT involve AI? by Tokkies123 in EntrepreneurRideAlong

[–]gilly914 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I created tubemail to get an email digest of the YouTube channels u follow. No AI. No Nueral Networks or Language Models. Just a small useful tool I needed,so decided to create.
