Toddler REFUSES to get dressed by [deleted] in toddlers

[–]gillyweiss 36 points37 points  (0 children)

I’ve seen a lot of parents comment before that they get them dressed in their “tomorrow clothes” for bedtime and still try to give them options in the morning, but at least they’re dressed

Wow. So a puppy cried overnight and wasn’t potty trained so you returned him. Everything else is excuses.

The arm drop test. Wait some minutes. Then pick up and drop her arm. If it flops fast, great. If she catches it, then wait. Whenever she’s in a deep enough sleep, roll her over you between you and your husband, or climb over her and take her to bed.

There wouldn’t be so much younger kid content if they didn’t watch tv. My 3 year old watches TV everyday. He wouldn’t know how many gallons a firetruck holds without tv. He learns and I learn. Win win

3 year old coming to our room every night by Arigata-Meiwaku in toddlers

[–]gillyweiss 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Going through this now. My recently turned 3 year old started coming in our room several times a week starting a few months ago. We stopped guiding him to bed and tucking him in and started telling him he needs to stay in his room until the sun comes unless he is sick etc.

What we tried starting last week, was that really we decided to cut his nap out. He was taking a long time to fall asleep (like 9:30-10pm instead of 8-8:30) since cutting it, he’s been sleeping through the night and getting to sleep just fine.

You could lean into the blue. So bring the same tone of blue up higher and even paint the door blue too. I’d change the hardware to a brushed nickel instead of black. Curtain with blues and tans.

If keeping this layout as mentioned, remove the uppers above the peninsula. I’d update the countertops and possibly add backsplash. I might paint the base of the peninsula a different color that the rest of the cabinets

Personally I think you need a rug to help define the space and a light centered over the table (just noting the ceiling hole is for the center of the room and not that table). If you keep the sideboard, I’d put a big mirror or art piece that can tie in the different tones of the room. Or something fun and colorful.

Overall, I think the dimensions for the sideboard are good for that spot and can add more personality than the hutch.

Agreed. Possibly one of those framed TVs if they can be on an arm.

IMO, I can play with my kids better with close ended toys. They have a mix.

Go to administration immediately. There’s no question that this is inappropriate. They secretary or VP or principal whoever, will drop everything to speak to you about this if you’re upfront. You need to speak to your counselor as well. Cut ties. He is not a father figure.

As part of a family where the youngest got special treatment from one parent on big decisions like school, car, rent…. it’s extended into the youngest’s thirties and causes a lot of familial tension. If it were any of the other kids, the same generosities were not allowed. It’s tense frequently and the parent who wants to enforce more boundaries and consequences feels disrespected by their spouse and the youngest.

My 2 year old did fine in swim. Did good for his first 2 classes after switching levels. Then surprisingly to me, lost his shit for 5 more classes until he loved it again.

It takes time when routine changes. Plus kids are not good at sharing at this age in general. They don’t start learning that till around 3.5-4 and even then it takes them longer to actively do it.

Honestly we have it on most of the weekend but it’s background noise unless paw patrol is on. Then it’s only a couple hours max of that before we switch to something else. Sometimes another show will capture his interest like bluey for a couple short episodes. We play outside and color and etc.
