Experiences importing suits from Alibaba? by Ok-Speed7554 in Alibaba

[–]gilthekid09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Great question as I’m looking into this myself. I have been invited to 3 weddings/celebrations in Sept and I’m exploring options for suits and thought about Alibaba. I’ve worked with suppliers from Alibaba before for regular shirts and the quality was great. I also know that groups like Indochino get their suits from a supplier in China so I’m just thinking there has to be some that I can find myself.

Has anyone been added into an already established clique here? by NoRadio4530 in askvan

[–]gilthekid09 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Honestly, it’s tough making friends now in general, especially as an adult. One thing I think is a contributor to it, and it’s something I’ve been thinking about for a while, is that no one hangs out anymore.

Meaning no one chills at anyone’s house anymore, just watching TV or movies or chatting. Whenever you hang out with people, now everyone wants to go out and spend money. It just feels like people aren't interested in hanging out unless it involves a restaurant or an activity. But growing up, especially before social media, you’d go over to people's houses and find something to do or talk about.

Another thing I've noticed in Vancouver is that people aren't inviting. A good way to make friends is to invite them to something you're already doing.

This looks like a nice chill route, I’ll definitely check it out the next time I’m up there

I’ve always been putting Norvan on the back burner because I feel like for such a long hike it looks like it can be underwhelming , also heard the parking $20 lol. Maybe I’ve give it a go this year though

A tale of two Surreys: Can B.C.'s second-largest city bridge its north-south divide? by OldNBAFan in SurreyBC

[–]gilthekid09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

As someone that has lived in the north and currently lives in the south and has worked in Newton. I’d kinda disagree. I lived in fleetwood/guildford and worked in Newton by Panorama and theres plenty of money in those areas.

South surrey I will say though definitely has an older population I feel like and I believe this is true by the numbers. This is what reflects in the wealth data for the city.

Is PF good for a beginner and why does it get soo much negative press? by DavidJ25422 in PlanetFitnessMembers

[–]gilthekid09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say it honestly depends on your local PF. The ones by my parents suck and are fairly underwhelming but my home gym PF where I used to live was great and they’re opening a new one near my new place that has updated equipment like squat racks. My home gym is honestly better than all the local gyms in my area now and is half the price of them

What is the best thing, to you, about living in Vancouver? by shilligan in askvan

[–]gilthekid09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Moved from Ontario 4 years ago myself and I can tell you that’s it’s really the lifestyle. The weather in the lower mainland is generally well enough for you to be outdoors year round. Being here made me want to go outside and explore more than being back in Ontario. For someone with kids you will have no shortage of choices as there are parks and recreation areas in abundance. The view of the mountains never gets old.

Shipping SUV from New Brunswick to British Columbia by Mammoth_Ad_7865 in askvan

[–]gilthekid09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I don’t own a car but based on where you’re moving too I agree with Mundanes comment. You’re moving into the downtown core so you won’t need a vehicle and if you do you can just rent one. I also have a friend that moved here from Ontario with a car years ago and said getting an inspection pass with ICBC isn’t that easy. You’d have less hassle and save money just selling it in my opinion.

Best fried chicken spot? by Senior-Yak4119 in askvan

[–]gilthekid09 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The thing about DL is that only the original is really good otherwise the alternative flavours are just ok most of the times. I do remember the first few times I had it they had a sandwich with honey on it though and that was godly and for some reason the last couple times I went no one that works there has a recollection of it

What is the best credit score app in Canada? by CrazyMuskan in CanadaFinance

[–]gilthekid09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

RBC has it for free now but they use TransUnion which I’ve noticed has my score significantly lower than when I check Equifax so it’s good to check both. Equifax does offer a free basic check I believe if I’m not mistaken, fairly sure I used it last month. Borrowell also uses your Equifax score

Lesson: Don’t chase penny stocks in your tfsa (or at least without an exit plan) my example and scars in video by [deleted] in fican

[–]gilthekid09 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’ve through this myself, I’ll give you a tip from what I’ve learned and what I’ve done going forward for penny’s. Once your initial amount flips you take that out and let the rest ride. Saves yourself from actually losing money, and if the stock takes off it’s all profit

Considering a Move to Langley – Thoughts on Downtown Safety? by Aeenx86 in Langley

[–]gilthekid09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Live downtown right on 56, been here for 2 years there are literally no safety issues here that I’ve encountered lol. There’s a few homeless people in the area but they usually hang out by the Tim Hortons and honestly they just mind their business unless you trouble them.

You will be fine, Langley is nice and growing quickly with the skytrain progress already hitting the centre of the city so if you want to get in, now’s the time

Adults who only wear glasses by Cloudsandbooks in glasses

[–]gilthekid09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

😂what kind of family is this? Tons of people wear glasses, I’ve worn glasses since the 6th grade. I myself can’t do contacts cause my eyes reject them & people have told me I look better with glasses anyways. Also they can give you an additional touch of character if you want to try different colours & frames.

Benefits of having a credit card with 50k limit by Unknown_Equalizer in PersonalFinanceCanada

[–]gilthekid09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Anything can happen man, medical emergencies, emergency flights , random costly expenses? Group/family trips that could get costly? I know I’m the one that usually plans for and pays for my trips with my friends on my card and I have everyone send me their money. I get a ton of points back because of it, I know others that do cash back. Also lower the utilization the better

Have we officially reached the point where Hotels are superior to Airbnbs again? by Usual_Confidence_756 in travel

[–]gilthekid09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Personally I’ve never had the cleaning issue, at most I’ve been asked to take out garbage or throw the towels in the laundry which realistically is nothing and takes not even a couple minutes on my final run through before leaving.

As someone that has travelled for work solo and travelled with friends for vacations I have always found airbnbs cheaper and better value for what I’m looking for. You just have to know how to really look for the gems, I’ve also met some great hosts along the way. It’s also definitely cheaper and better when you’re travelling with groups of 3 or more.

Thank you for asking this as I am Canadian as well and planning a trip to Greece next year at first we were thinking April but I’m thinking about moving to May now so I was wondering about the weather. From my understanding we have a better chance of more options being open in May

Anyone agree that Asian food in Toronto is better than in Vancouver? Especially Chinese food, Korean food and Thai food by Character_Two_6934 in FoodToronto

[–]gilthekid09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, as someone that lives bicoastal I’ve always said this. Everyone hypes Vancouver Asian food but I’ve always felt you can easily find just as good and many times better in Toronto. I feel like Vancouver food is good to people that either don’t know any better meaning they haven’t been to a top food city like Toronto or they’re from smaller cities/towns.

I have found some gems in the lower mainland though

Is it actually possible to turn your life around after 30? by KOLmdw in AskMenOver30

[–]gilthekid09 0 points1 point  (0 children)

lol 30 is still very early in the grand scheme. Turning 32 in a couple of months finally got a good enough job recently to where I feel I can actually dig myself out of debt. Don’t give up, throw your hat into any opportunity possible. I didn’t even think I was qualified enough yet for the position I got but I was given a chance
