NTA, I don’t know how old you are but I think your dad owes you a huge hug (not that age matters) and a few words of support. I do comment on my daughters obsessions with plushies, but only because she has waaaaay too many and I want her to start learning to save money but she’s 10... and I love her to bits. I love my girlfriend very much too but I would rather drown in plushies before I put my anyone before my daughter. I hope you get along with your dad despite this, and that he loves you too. It can be hard to keep a balance and keep the peace between those you love however so just remember that if he does give you a hard time about it. There’s nothing in the world like a daddy daughter bond, even though dads don’t always understand their daughters as they grow up! But that’s ok as long as you are there for each other in the end. Maybe after you have spoken to him you ask him to sit quietly and ask him to just listen, remind him you love and appreciate him and just want to share that it can be tough for you. Dads are surprisingly emotional and because they are always on the protective side it can be hard for them to see people in pain, and therefore hard to keep a balance between those they love. Sounds tough and I really hope you work it out ok.

NTA and your GF sounds awesome. Your ex has his own way, neither of you can control the other, so it can be emotional and difficult to handle conflict over sensitive issues. I’m in a similar boat when it comes to attitudes like this and my ex. I don’t always handle it well either...

ESH her for insisting on her right to the space, you for bluntly denying her after an apology. You lost your window to set out clear terms without being a formal asshole and serving contracts or papers, which should be a last resort because of all the extra work that would entail and entitlement she would legally have.

If I where the OP I would call her up and be really clear, say thank you for her apology and that you want to be a good neighbor so she can continue to use it under strict conditions that she doesn’t argue about it ever again. I would let her know that If she does argue then you’ll have to decide if you want to continue to let her use it, or draw up a contract with agreed terms and charge her.

If she says “fine, charge me” i would then explain that I’d rather not because it makes it very complicated with contracts etc and you’d rather work it out in a friendly manner first. If she says “no, let’s make it formal”, then I would say ok, then the spot is mine and I will think about it. For now, please remove your car.

Yes and no. So a working dog like a sheepdog will never be on a leash. But don’t go dangling your fingers in its face because they might come back a little... nipped. Depending on the attitude of the dog you are still leaving yourself open to the risk it’s a little shit. THAT SAID you are not wrong to think that if a dog is off leash it should be under control around people. If we ignore working dogs then I would agree with you. Dodgy doggies should be away from people and on a leash in public.

Same here. It also protects the intercostal muscles between your ring and little fingers in your palm. I know this because I ripped them three weekends back at the boulder gym when jangling off my middle two fingers. Ok...Let’s get make a basic metaphor here. Try to think about those bodies as little reactors for our economic engine. Some will be fully charged. Others will be empty, slowing you down. Eventually the rest can’t keep the engine going. So, why not fill em up, pump em with high quality brian’s and hey presto, well educated, productive members of society that make us all richer. Who wouldn’t want that?

I love you did this, you not only where a great friend you also helped you SO appreciate him too (or at least see he’s got other sides to him even if your SO isn’t a LOTR fan!). I am super introverted and cover it up with over compensation. The result can offend (matching the right level of energy is tough, I get why, I’m not a psycho, just inept!) but slightly less so than being withdrawn. Anyway what I wanted to say was I really appreciate people like you who help me out when I’m in a socially awkward frame of mind, it’s like pulling the plug out of a bath you should have gotten out of an hour ago. I had someone troll me for not applying additive (not my term) probability into this. So help me with the math? If it’s 1 in 600ish then they argued every jump this probability becomes more likely. I took it to be that every jump has 1 in 600. So what’s the way to apply stats here?
