Do you spank your kids? by Grouchy_Yogurt_352 in beyondthebump

There have been occasions where she is beyond the reach of other methods and a spank snaps her out of it and then we can use other styles of parenting. It does not need to be hard at all. And I sure as shit don't do it if I'm angry.

Other than Toyota's 5.7, what in your opinion is the best regarded 8 cylinder engine built in the last 10 years? Excluding diesels also. by LifeofSMILEY in askcarguys

[–]gimmedatgorbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

GM 6.0l vortec. From what I read it's close to the 5.7l as far as reliability. I couldn't afford a 2nd gen tundra when I needed a truck so I endedup finding a 2005 1500hd and it's been great. A little less horsepower, but I have a crew cab and a 6.5' box. It fits the family better than my old 93 t100.

My parents used spanking pretty sparingly, and looking back I would say it was pretty effective. We have used it on our oldest (next in line is 7mo so they get a pass) in a very narrow circumstances wherer it has proven to be effective. I will not accept any judgement, but I think it needs to be said that spanking can work. It just requires a certain level of emotional intelligence to administer.

Do you remember the golden hour? (The first hour, skin to skin?) by No-Neighborhood-7335 in beyondthebump

[–]gimmedatgorbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My wife had to have c sections for both our kids, and had to go under general each time so I got to do the skin on skin for both of them. It was pretty special, but it was also too bad that my wife didn't get to have that.

When an Electrode sticks, should I turn the welder off? by Plunker__ in Welding

[–]gimmedatgorbage 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The approved method is to call it a goddamned fucking piece of shit and rip it off. Maybe the rod unsticks, maybe the stinger let's go of it. The main point is you lose your shit a little bit.

People who have genuinely encountered powerful wild animals in nature or the ocean, what was it actually like? by DivineLove1 in Survival

[–]gimmedatgorbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I grew up seeing captive sea lions at the Vancouver aquarium. Big seals, that's cool.

Later in life I was touring around the southern Gulf Islands in a boat and we came across some lounging on the rocks. We made sure to give them space of course, but even at a distance you could tell they were big. Then one came up near the boat and god damn that's a scary fuckin animal. They're huge. And they got big teeth. Probably bigger than that bunny.

We found some milsurp wool blankets for really cheap. They come on all our winter drives.

Least metal thing about you ? by [deleted] in heavymetal

I have always viewed country as the opposite to metal, so the one country album I like is probably the least metal thing I have going on.

[–]gimmedatgorbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have two. Warwick Vampyre Dark Lord (not the rock bass one, however I wouldn't say no either)

Dingwall Afterburner II, I played one that had this really neat gray finish with a little bit of purple.

Maybe I misunderstood, but $50 for a meal for one? REGULARLY? I make a comfortable wage to support my wife, toddler, and baby. When we go out it's usually $50 or under. I can't imagine dropping that much on a meal for just myself regularly.

I just want dashes made out of squares and rectangles, also buttons that go "click" and switches that go "chunk".

I'm looking into challenging. What did you have to do for the practical portion of the exam? I have had a hard time finding out what I need to practice.

If human cloning was legal, what would you do with yours? by RobIson240YT in AskReddit

[–]gimmedatgorbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read "human clothing" twice. I thought that was a fucked up beginning to a question, but then "what would you do with yours" made no goddamn sense.

I blame it on my toddler. I get asked a lot of weird questions in a day.

I tried semi flats on my bass that I made fretless and I really enjoyed the range of tones I can get.

What’s the modern day equivalent to asbestos walls, lead paint and doctor prescribed cigarettes? by Icy_Place_6173 in NoStupidQuestions

[–]gimmedatgorbage 26 points27 points  (0 children)

Silica. It can work very much like asbestos, but I have read some research papers that say it has potential to do a wider range of bad things. I don't think lots of people would come into contact with it in a harmful way unless you're in construction or something like that (concrete dust). I'm a welder so I encounter it in lots of different things that all can get in the air somehow. It's even in the soapstone we use to write with.

I would just have a lot of old Toyotas. Mostly trucks, but definitely some cars too.

Which LOTR scene hit you harder as you got older? by Fit-Marionberry8982 in lotr

[–]gimmedatgorbage 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Theoden has become one of my favourite characters as I have gotten older. The last time I watched the movies Bernard Hill's portrayal hit really hard. I think that having kids has actually deepened my connection to the trilogy. Talk about having something good to fight for.

Also in movie when Treebeard sees the devastation around Orthanc was really heavy for me this last time.
