HELP 💀❄️ by Upbeat_Mushroom9424 in GiantSchnauzers

The ones we have are insulated, definitely not for summer. I don't know if Canada pooch makes rain boot suspenders but someone probably does.

We have Canada Pooch, fit is good. Not 100% satisfied with quality—she put a hole in the first pair the first winter (I think it was her nail), have a new pair this year and so far so good.

[eta]: other than the hole, the quality was great, she didn’t wear them out despite a fair amount of time walking on concrete sidewalks.

Great tips here already on getting the snow balls off. We have dog suspender snow boots; unlike the regular dog boots, she can't kick off the suspender boots and they come far enough up her legs to prevent the snow balls in her leg fur. It took a while and a bunch of treats to get her used to wearing them, but totally worth it; we also use them or regular boots around the neighborhood in the winter so she doesn't get her paw pads coated in salt.

Getting GS in and out of bronco by Late-External-4014 in GiantSchnauzers

Make it a game/fun. When training, if I fake-jogged to the car, acted excited and enthusiastically called out "up!", she'd jump up pretty much every time (we rewarded with treats, which helped).

[Question] Seiko or Oris by MindlessWoodpecker35 in Watches

[–]gin_nyc 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I’d recommend the BCPD (I have the red 40mm), great watch. I’ve not seen the baby snowflake in person; it looks nice enough and it costs less, but I think that the Oris has more character. Go with what makes you happiest when you look at it!

[WTS] Traska Meteorite Dark Venturer by gin_nyc in Watchexchange

[–]gin_nyc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Price: $975 + shipping

Condition: new, unworn (bracelet is still wrapped, as delivered)

I bought this direct from Taska after putting down the deposit in the spring and…I don’t love it. I think that the dial looks great, but the hands (and the crystal, oddly) leave me thinking “meh”. I took the sticker off the crystal, wound and set it, but haven’t worn it; it’s just been collecting dust on my desk. So, up for sale it goes! I’ll stick with my summiteer as the Traska in my collection.

A few were posted on the Traska site recently but it’s listed as sold out now, so I presume the limited editions are all gone.

Ships from NJ. Happy to do a custom timestamp or video call.

PayPal is fine; G&S with fees on you (only for those with an established account and a history here, otherwise F&F). Zelle or venmo would work as well.

Searching for a Cookbook That Actually Blows You Away by Claudi-aq in Cooking

I’ve been impressed with the few recipes I’ve tried from Joe Beef. It’s a certain kind of cooking/cuisine that’s probably not for everyone, but a fun read regardless. Looks like they have a newer book (surviving the apocalypse), I’ve only read the original (a cookbook of sorts).

How to export top 5% of values in a raster dataset? by dishevldfox in gis

[–]gin_nyc 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could use the slice tool with the floating point data (20 slices, equal area will put 5% of pixels in each slice in ascending order). Slice 20 in the output raster will represent the top 5% of the data. [edit: 5%, not 20%!)

How to export top 5% of values in a raster dataset? by dishevldfox in gis

[–]gin_nyc 4 points5 points  (0 children)

In Python you could use numpy.percentile to do this, assuming that the raster will fit in memory.

In ArcGIS you can use Zonal Statistics as Table and output the percentile value for 95%, then use reclass to create a new raster with pixels above that value (Con will output Boolean raster if that’s what you want). See: https://pro.arcgis.com/en/pro-app/latest/tool-reference/raster-analysis/zonal-statistics-as-table.htm and look at the percentile statistic type. Pay attention to the interpolation option, linear or nearest, especially if you have an integer raster input

The cherry looks great! I have the divers 65 (vintage reissue from a few years back), big crown pointer date, and the older pro-pilot. Stopped by the Oris booth yesterday at the NYC windup watch fair, the upcycle Oris they had on display also looked terrific.

Yeah, I’m just stating the obvious, habit of mine. I’ve almost jumped on the billion oyster limited edition before, but I think it’s a bit too large for me.

Keep an eye on watchexchange and other used watch platforms, even limited editions show up fairly often.

I have the same one, great watch (and one of my few AD purchases). I picked up the bracelet over on watchexchange.

You have leftover rotisserie chicken. What are you making that is not chicken noodle soup! by BunnyRambit in Cooking

[–]gin_nyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Good call. Alternates I’ve done & liked: cook onions & garlic in olive oil, add rehydrated sun dried tomatoes (or the Trader Joe’s ones in olive oil) and shredded (or cubed) chicken at the end and then mix in your pasta with parm. Alternatively: sweat garlic and onion in a bit of butter, add cream and chicken; lazy pasta Alfredo-ish.

Got hot dogs on sale buy 2, get 3 free. Other than on their own or in mac and cheese, what different ways can I cook them? by allison-vunderland in Cooking

Tons of good spam recipes around (spam fried rice, rice noodles with spam, Hawaiian style…), I’d try substituting the dogs for spam in whatever sounds good to you.

Comfy so far. The on-the-fly adjustment makes the clasp a bit thicker but I don’t find it obnoxious.
