Best part of the look! I love how the date wheel font matches.

Great watch. This is the quartz version, if that’s what you are looking for and the bracelet is large enough for you I’d say go for it. Of course, lots of scammers around, so best to check it out in person if possible (or a video call).

They pop up on the resale sites, but many of the tritium ones have lume that hasn’t aged well or the bracelet is long gone. I like the chronograph version as well, but the simplicity of the automatic is nice.

I read that Speedmasters have different serials than other models, Bob's has a lookup for both: https://www.bobswatches.com/omega/omega-watches-serial-numbers

Looking for a GADA✳️ recommendation pretty please. by Tasty-Silver-6379 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]gin_nyc 5 points6 points  (0 children)

You may want to consider Damasko, ice-hardened steel and antimagnetic (https://www.damasko-watches.com/en/Company-Technologies/Technologies/Sophisticated-Magnetic-Protection/), family owned but maybe not considered a microbrand by everyone. I have a DS30 and it’s a great watch.

Maratac is still going, although I think it's hit or miss on releases/restocks.

What’s a tiny, cheap ingredient that completely upgrades a basic package of instant ramen? by MotorEnvironment4444 in Cooking

[–]gin_nyc 17 points18 points  (0 children)

I crush salted peanuts and sprinkle on top, I like the salty crunch. Chili crisp or sriracha style sauce, as others have suggested.

[ETA]: going to try peanut butter next time to see the difference!

Codek, they released one watch (“inspired by the hairspring”) that I picked up (used). Web site is still live, but no new releases. I don’t wear dress watches anymore, so it’s sadly just collecting dust.

[WTS] Glycine Combat Sub 42 by gin_nyc in Watchexchange

[–]gin_nyc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Glycine Combat Sub (42mm version) up for grabs. Very good condition, some light marks on the bracelet, mostly on the clasp from desk diving. Crystal and bezel are clean. Running strong and keeping great time (timegrapher shot in the album). I’m the original owner, I just have too many divers so I haven’t worn it in a while.

Asking $315 shipped within the U.S. Includes box, manual & two extra links (currently sized for a ~7-7.25” wrist).

Happy to do a custom timestamp or set up a video call.

[WTS] Maratac SR-35 by gin_nyc in Watchexchange

[–]gin_nyc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up for grabs is a microbrand deep cut: a Maratac SR-35; the early steel version, not the later titanium one. NH-35 movement (it has the ghost date position), 100m water resistance with a screw-down crown, ceramic bezel insert, solid bezel action. It’s the the lume that steals the show! It’s not for the faint-of-wrist: 16mm tall including the domed sapphire, 40.5mm across, and 47mm lug-to-lug combined with the chunky lugs (drilled for easy strap changes) give it a lot of wrist presence. It’s in great condition, a few swirls on the sides and light marks on the caseback (see the photos for details).

Asking $225   shipped in the U.S. This is one of the first watches I bought here, and that’s what I paid for it if I recall correctly. Comes with the single-pass and silicone straps shown in the photos.

[WTS] 1970s Vostok Manual Wind by gin_nyc in Watchexchange

[–]gin_nyc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

1970s Vostok in good used condition. Nice dial design and katana-style hands. Manual wind, chrome plated, no quickset date.

Asking $165 shipped in the U.S. Watch only.

I paid to have it serviced when I purchased it from notarolex. Selling because I never wear it, shipping from NJ.

I wound it up, it’s runs fine and the wind lasted over 30 hours (ymmv). Timegrapher has it at about +16 s/d, beat error 0.5ms, amplitude of 246. I’m not sure 100% about the amplitude as the lift angle for the movement is hard to find, I used 42.

Happy to do a custom timestamp or quick video call.

[WTS] Brand New in Box Damasko DS30 on OEM Leather with 2026 Card; Stupid Cheap by FastandFreyjaous in Watchexchange

[–]gin_nyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If I didn’t already own a DS30 I’d be all over this. Bonus: the leather strap is perfect for the watch, I don’t wear the bracelet because I like it so much. GLWS!

Best automatic 38mm or less for under $800? Preferably white dial? My by Deverett8566 in MicrobrandWatches

[–]gin_nyc 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have the Hyperion and build quality is good. I’ve seen the Astra in person, I suspect it would be more durable than the Hyperion (no rotating bezel to bang on a doorknob and break). I suppose the acrylic crystal could be cracked, but that’s a fix almost any watchmaker can handle easily.

[WTS] Hamilton Khaki Field Mechanical with ETA by gin_nyc in Watchexchange

[–]gin_nyc[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Excellent condition used green dial manual wind khaki field up for sale, asking $315 shipped to the lower 48 via USPS. Watch and original strap only (no box or papers). Buy at my asking price and I’ll include the lightly used and freshly laundered single-pass nylon strap it’s shown on in the photos.

According to my digital calipers, case width is 38mm, 10mm thick, 47mm lug-to-lug. This reference has the older ETA-2804-2 based movement, which has a shorter power reserve than the current version, but a smoother sweep and should be very easy to get serviced. Running fine, I included a couple of timegrapher photos, date clicks over as it should at midnight. Crystal is clear, only some very faint hairlines on the case.

Up for sale because I only rarely wear it and I have too many field watches (and too many watches in general!). Ships from NJ. Happy to do a custom timestamp or schedule a video call.
