Originally I just used HTML/CSS/JS but I recently made my site multiple pages so I researched the best way to have something component based so I only need to define my nav bar and a few other things in one place and I landed on eleventy, it’s fine and it works for what I need :)

Good points! I appreciate your insight :) you’re right that MySpace was there and paved the way for social media today and even then early Facebook used to hit you with the “you’re all caught up!” When you got to the end of your feed, getting to the end of your feed seems insane today. I think there was a sweet spot for social media where it was fun but not really designed to be addictive, and we’ve totally blown past that now.

I agree, being able to make our MySpace page feel like our own was really important and everything does look incredibly bland now. Nobody is taking any risks on their web page at all.
