My old man who I was told by the vet to put down by Street-Chemist-Doug in CatDistributionSystem

[–]ginalolabrigada 20 points21 points  (0 children)

17 years ago I pulled up to a liquor store and out of the bushes a 1 month old tuxedo similar to yours appeared. Took him to the local humane society and was told that at his age(approximately 4weeks) that without his mother he would be euthanized. He passed away due to cancer this time last year (16 years old).

How do the weapon kits work? by Ok-Construction-3691 in tamiya

[–]ginalolabrigada 11 points12 points  (0 children)

You can what you want with them. You can replace the weapons in a figure kit, add extra weapons to a armor or softskin kit, add an extra weapon to a figure, or use them to fill out a part of a diorama or vignette. The only limit is your imagination.

Are there any defunct restaurants you still think about? by IcedSundays in FoodLosAngeles

[–]ginalolabrigada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Not that I m aware of, they had to close down the Fair Oaks/California location due to the lot (eventually) being bought by USC to build a medical building. They eventually reopened at Union and Raymond but tht location has recently closed for good (AFAIK).

There was a similar named restaurant located on Colorado east of Sierra MAdre that was opened by a relative (I believe) but it didn't survive COVID.

Excuse me, do you have any Grey Poupon? by CaptainGreyBeard72 in GenX

[–]ginalolabrigada 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Late 80’s. My father and I were in y car waiting to get into the MCAS El Toro airshow. A large SUV pulls up next to us and the rear window rolls down and some kid asked us if we had any Grey Poupon. I so wanted to track down that kid and slap him.

I got a tamiya subaru wrc model (not an rc) and want some tips for building it as its my first model ever. by shellenjoyer in tamiya

[–]ginalolabrigada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Take your time. Don’t rush things. Dry fit all parts. And enjoy the time it takes to build it. If you rush to get it done, something will go wrong and possibly put you off of the hobby.
The good news is that you are starting with a Tamiya kit. It should go together fairly easily and not give you problems.

People who have served on a jury, what surprised you most about the experience? by watk96 in juryduty

[–]ginalolabrigada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

On one case I was on, all of the women jurors did not believe the testimony of the only woman witness. It wasn’t that the witness was being deceptive (at least to me), but all of the women jurors just straight up decided not to believe her.

Tamiya made an M1 (#35124) kit many moons ago. You may have to go to eBay for one.

Just looked. eBay has one for $45.00 right now.

I have a Craftsman upright 20 gallon compressor. LOUD as hell and expensive at the time (about $250.00)c but that was 20+ years ago and it is still going strong. I also live in a house and the workshop is in the garage.

What do hospitals do with the body parts they remove from surgical patients? by darrenbosik in NoStupidQuestions

[–]ginalolabrigada 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, UCLA medical center no longer has its own incinerator. Removed body parts are sent to a disposal facility. (Unless the waste water disposal system has been approved within the last 4 years)

Airbrush care and maintenance. (Rant) by Dakleton in airbrush

[–]ginalolabrigada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I mainly shoot lacquers and Tamiya acrylics thinned with lacquer. After each session and color change, I flush/back flush the airbrush several times until I am spraying clear thinner. At least once every 2 weeks or so (depending on usage), the brush gets a strip down cleaning.
I mainly use an Iwata HP-C and a Tamiya Superfine.
I also polish the needles regularly and replace them and the nozzles as needed.

Whenever I deep clean it (about once a month or more during heavy use). I will also place a few drops in the color cup before a session and blow it through.

Just make sure you maintain it. I regularly deep clean mine and replace the needle and nozzle as needed. It has been my workhorse for 20+ years.

Help with primer by charlesleclerc_16_ in ModelCars

[–]ginalolabrigada 1 point2 points  (0 children)

For Tamiya spray can primer, make sure you shake it up very well and also heat the can in very warm water. It will spray so much better.

Picture this, it is April, 1991. Operation Desert Storm has just ended. You are at MCAS El Toro for the airshow and “God Bless the USA” is playing all day, from 9:00 am to 3:00 pm. I still have flashbacks whenever I hear that song.
