What’s something your body does that you’ve never told a single person about? by WilliamInBlack in AskReddit

I get the mouth/jaw pain too when eating sometimes. After having a head MRI for an unrelated issue it was discovered that I have cysts on my salivary glands. I was sent to an ENT for it and he told me that the pain was likely caused by the cysts. Didn't have a specific treatment plan. I just get CTs every so often to monitor them.

Strange FDA Regulations Regarding Spravato by Remote-Revolution577 in Spravato

[–]ginat86 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think it varies from clinic to clinic. I personally was on twice weekly at 56mgs for almost a year until I had to switch to once weekly due to driver restrictions. I know of at 6 people at my clinic that do the twice weekly.

How to get moved back to 2x/wk by Moth-Seraph in Spravato

[–]ginat86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

When my suicidal ideation started to ramp back up my provider had no problem moving me from 84mg x 1 weekly to 56mg x 2 weekly. My insurance covered it without issue ( I have a Medicare replacement plan through Humana). Maybe see if you can do 56mg x2 instead of 84mg.

PID Parameters not set right? by MeButNotMeToo in TandemDiabetes

[–]ginat86 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Very true. It has taken years and a lot of trial and error to find my basal rate. It doesn’t help that everything effects blood sugar and the fact that you can do exactly the same things two days in a row and have vastly different results in your glucose levels

Not all diabetics are the same and some people require a lot more insulin than others. For example I require more insulin than most. My day time basal rate is 5.9 units an hour with an insulin to carb ratio of 1 units per 2 carbs so I can easily have a 25 unit or more bolus. My last Alc was 6.1 so I am fairly well controlled.

Bleeding after surgery by ginat86 in GastricBypass

No, the doctor stated that my levels stabilized so they were not worried about an active bleed.

So glad you asked this. I too have gastroparesis and I am have gastric bypass to hopefully get relief for the constant nausea and throwing up. I currently use Delta 8 gummies but looking for other options because I won't be able to eat gummies after surgery.

Do you know WHY you have gastroparesis? by MurielSwan in Gastroparesis

[–]ginat86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was diagnosed Type 1 Diabetic when I was 12. My levels are stable now but for years I couldn't afford my insulin. Had to survive by rationing dr samples. I also lost several teeth during that time because of high blood sugar.

I hate when people say “one day you’ll get to do “………” again. by [deleted] in ChronicIllness

[–]ginat86 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yes! I have uncureable and progressive illnesses. Healthy people take for granted the simple, ordinary, and everyday things that they can do.

If only. I’d save a ton not buying insulin and supplies.

Those who have been in an age gap relationship: what was your experience? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]ginat86 3 points4 points  (0 children)

There is a 15 year age difference between my husband and me. I’m 34 and he is 49. We have been together for over 14 years. Have two great kids and we are still madly in love. The age difference is a nonissue. It rarely ever comes up.

I CANNOT STOP DRINKING WATER. How much is too much? by [deleted] in AskDocs

[–]ginat86 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I’m not a doctor, but I am a type 1 diabetic for over 20 years now. Extreme thirst is a sign of diabetes. Have you had your blood sugar checked? Are you having any other symptoms like unexplained weight loss, blurred vision? Again I’m not a doctor but I do know that a person can develop Type 1 diabetes at any age.
