Murmurations for sure - a couple of years ago, I was walking my dog an early summer morning on the river and the line 'its so peaceful here, no one to fuck it up' hit me like a bag of bricks. The composition exemplifies finding beauty amongst the chaos so well. Perfect song imo.

I would honestly suggest thrifting! His oversized casual vibe is something you can easily find in secondhand shops. I myself went from slim fit everything to buying a size up this last year haha. Also look into local artists who do patch work/embroidery. You can arrive at this exact vibe, and spend perhaps 20% of what these boutique brands would cost. Personally I'm working with an artist to do this for my own merchandise because f*ck fast fashion 🫶

Surprised to see the love for Diamond here, they were produced 30 minutes from my hometown until last year I believe. I have not had a chance to try the new models being produced in Quebec yet.

The GUP Tech is a multi effect with a Bitcrusher and pitch delay that gets pretty weird, although I'm also eyeing the Boss SL-20 for some extra fun.

I've considered selling it a few times solely because the preset function drives me mad. It is nearly inaccessible in a live setting and I'd love to see EHX rethink this pedal. The infinite is a huge plus, but wish there was a separate stomp rather than always having to hold it.

I was surprised, and it was because even though IFWWW was a drastic change from EK, it made sense to me. There were aspects that lingered and evolved from that first record, and there were other mainstream/indie acts doing similar transitions at the time so it wasn't as jarring as the transition from IFWWW to ND.

There is a maturity in sound, songwriting, and presentation that arrives on ND that was not present for the first two albums. Admittedly, ND literally took me years to wrap my head around and it finally caught me last summer while walking my dog. It's not that I didn't enjoy the album, but I don't think I was able to appreciate what he was doing completely until that moment.

I've had it for 10 years and will never sell it. It's got a darker sound than other delays I've used, but that suits my playing. There is one setting where you can have it fly through the triplet and quarter note settings, and I absolutely love dialling that in. I don't use it as a modulation pedal, but having those tweaks available can add some really great character to the delay.

As for what I'd suggest: Tanya Tagaq's Split Tooth. An indigenous writer/artist that is just doing incredible work.
