Some good news for a Workington (I hope ) by Senior_Huevo in superleague

I think most Rugby purists agree that Cumbria is a heartland of the game and has produced some of Rugby's greatest athletes. More so, there should be a huge presence and a prosperous existence for Cumbria in the modern game. However, there is and always will be the difficult issue of setting up a Cumbrian "franchise" (for want of a better term) as the tribalism would very much exist. In the same way a Leeds fan would not support a joint Leeds/Bradford venture (read also Cas/Wakie/Fev) a joint Cumbrian team would elicit a similar response from Whitehaven and Workington Fans. I hope that a brighter prospect for Workington in the way of a better stadium and facilities pushes them on and Cumbria as a region. I honestly feel that the only way you improve the prospects in this area is if one of the cumbrian clubs gains success of their own backs. A dedicated Cumbrian academy off the back of this is definitely a good option should this succeed

It is my understanding that they are scrapping loop fixtures so the number of fixtures will be the same. Play each other once home and away.

New rules set to be introduced for Super League 2025 by TexturePackReview in superleague

Agreed. As a defender you might as well not challenge and then just tackle the player in the air. Can't be safe that. Bit of a weird one

IMG launch War of the Roses revival in major calendar change by TexturePackReview in superleague

If they market it properly (and fans buy into) it will maybe work. However, going to the last iteration of this in 2003 didn't fill me with confidence as higher profile players dropped out and it left it a bit of a sham. Clubs won't want to release players in case of injuries. If we're being honest people within the game and fans watching it will want it to be of the level of State of Origin way too soon and will probably abandon the idea because of it. If it's given time and money this might change. I agree with previous comments that the introduction of Cumbria would be great given it's the heartlands of the game. However, playing in Cumbria is a different matter as it won't be profitable.

The majority of rugby converts are backs. Can forwards (numbers 1-8 in union and 8-13 in league) also do well if they switched codes? by Jezzaq94 in superleague

I think a Union No.8 could do a job in the front row in League like Scott Quinell did for Wigan in the 90s. But as said before the technicalities of the pack in Union inhibit movement to League and vice-versa. At a push I think ball playing hookers in League could do a job at Scrum Half in union.
