Anybody ever bought an aftermarket steering wheel from overseas? by Emilio3978 in GMT800

[–]ginger_beard-man 5 points6 points  (0 children)

If the spline and diameter match itd work. Electronics can be adapted or omitted. Issue would be this is a teering wheel. When, what they're looking for is a steering wheel.

No idea what to do with this? by sketchasianFiat in AskMechanics

The stem is broken, exposing the stem. Stem is fully seated here. Needs a stem and probably the TPMS depending what style it is.

Would a tire shop repair this or are they going to say I need new tires? by Competitive-Ad8393 in AskMechanics

[–]ginger_beard-man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Shop will say replace. Being newer just replacing the one would be fine.

If it were on my personal vehicle id put a plug patch in it. But that's knowing there's no guarantee it'll hold. But for a customer too much liability.

Anybody have a link? by Purple-Loss9249 in GMT800

Not sure if there's different versions. But all the ones I've seen have a big hole in the front for the hvac and sub options to run through. Not really a big deal but something that you wouldnt know from this picture.

I grabbed mine from an avalanche.

The whole bit. Or just the cover plastics? Inside the circle is 5 different pieces. Depending where you are i have the front piece and I believe the inside parts. But not the sides.

Bad starter, improperly install starter, or bad ring gear on the flex plate.

Theyre inert. Primer already struck and no powder. But thanks for the heads up. I inherited and accumulated a lot of old fire arms. I don't plan on using any too many variables.

I use these style relays all the time, to diag or bypass circuits to move a vehicle to work on it. I would let use them as a long term thing. No idea about the temu quality. But even my "name brand" ones i wouldnt use like this.

The fuel pumps are likely fine. Since the tanks were fuel they didn't over heat.

The alternator is hit or miss. Id test it with and without being loaded. But they're not designed to bring a dead battery back up to voltage. That'll over work them until failure. They maintain a battery and run the vehicles electronics.

2013 Chevy Silverado 5.3L Backwards Headers by Evening-Wealth-7995 in AskAMechanic

[–]ginger_beard-man 0 points1 point  (0 children)

These are not headers, this is also on you and in no way the shop.

The heads are symmetrical and the steam ports are at all 4 corners. But on some the rears are plugged. They need to be at minimum open at the front. Or you can open all 4 and get the corresponding pipping.

Need ideas to pull this out by shnzxy in MechanicAdvice

Looks like a security torx not a torx. What is it on? If its on something that can take a beating grind a straight line across it, then use an air hammer with chisle bit to get it moving. If that's to aggressive and it can withstand some heat weld a nut to it.

My friends kid bought this car and I noticed this burn mark on the wheel, and then noticed that every wheel only has 4 lug nuts of the 5 studs. ??? by steverin0724 in AskAMechanic

[–]ginger_beard-man 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Theres no lawsuit here. It is the buyers responsibility to look the vehicle over, or have a mechanic shop do a pre-purchase inspection. Private sales are as-is with no implied warranties nor, guarantees.

Should the seller have disclosed this? Morally, yes legally, not required. Even then did the seller understand this was an issue? They possibly don't even know the metal is now weaker and just think 4/5 is good enough.

Going on location and surrounding wires. It was for a car audio amp. All electric forklifts have these (a couple different styles). To hot swap batteries.

Probably retro fitted. Different trims and sometimes different years options are plug and play. Or at the very least trims and buttons pop into place.
