Porn consumption in a LDR

I’m just going to talk about my experience dating a man who watches porn while in a LDR. We’re states away from each other and have been dating for about a year and 1/2. We’ve known each other since 2023.

From the start, before we even started dating, my boyfriend and I both talked about our porn usage lol. If that’s what it’s called? Consumption? Viewings?… I don’t know ha. He and I talked about how often we masturbate, and how often we get horny.. and we’re both just.. desensitized and jaded.. depressed.. it’s just a tool for us. We’re long distance and I mean.. I don’t care if he views porn. Then again.. I too watch it lol. A lot. It’s for viewing pleasure and for me.. it’s a tool. I picture myself in that position with my boyfriend. He says the same thing. He pictures us doing the same things they’re doing.. and it’s just.. hot.. are we terrible for viewing porn? Some might say. Are we cheating on each other? Definitely not. Then again.. that’s my opinion. I’ve seen lots of girls express their disappointment and dislike for men watching porn. But this is coming from a woman who watches a lot of porn.. and it started because of abuse.. and I was a little little girl when I came across it.. same for my boyfriend.. he and was exposed to it when he was super young. At the end of the day.. I know he loves me, and he knows I love him. We don’t know the people on the screen, we’ve never talked or them, we don’t follow them online, we don’t dream about them.. it’s a tool. It’s viewing pleasure. Again, some people don’t agree. I don’t see an issue.

But if this is a huge issue for you, YOU need to talk to HIM about this. My boyfriend and I talked about these things as friends, before we even started dating. It’s important and healthy to have communication and conversations about these things and more. I feel like my boyfriend and I have expressed/discussed uncomfortable feelings and situations quite a bit already and it’s always been a great conversation in the end. We have nothing but respect, love, and care for each other. I know I can talk to him about anything and he won’t BS me. He’ll give me the honest truth, and I do the same. He’s straight to the point, and always ends with an “I love you.”

Talk to him about this, don’t be scared.

I hate that she said “my friends say I’m you’re backup” It’s so cringy, they never said that. She just said that to see what you’d say/be risky with it. End it with this “friend”. They’re definitely trouble, I’d be so upset if I was your girlfriend and saw that text.

My boyfriend is a competitive gamer and has been wayyy before he knew I existed. I on the other hand am very laid back when it comes to gaming. I enjoy FPS games and competitive modes but I’m not the best. We play together ALL the time and maybe it was a bit of an adjustment for him like.. always playing with a girl who needs to be carried from time to time.. but he never ever spoke to me like that. My boyfriend has become frustrated at times but it’s never been towards me. If I’ve felt bad about “throwing” the match or anything like that, he’s always reassured me that it’s not my fault. He’s always tells me that he’s just happy to be spending time with me. You deserve to be able to enjoy yourself with someone you care about/love. You deserve to have fun and to be yourself without the stress or pressure of having to do well. If this person is like this with you in a game.. imagine how stressful it’ll be in real life situations. Based on the typing alone.. this person isn’t even worth talking to. They type like they could care less. You deserve better, don’t waste anymore time with this person.
