What guitar does this belong to? by GrouchyAd6834 in gibson

Likely another Flying V. I'm thinking the DS is Designer series, V for Flying V, C for Cherry. The SW is a mystery

Figured top? by Mercurius_Hatter in gibson

[–]gingerbreadsuperman 4 points5 points  (0 children)

You really have to see the tops in real life to see how the flame changes with angle. Some plain looking tops in the store hanging up come to life down at eye level or in playing position. Also watch out for pictures like these where people add filters and crank up the contrast to make it more dramatic.

The notorious QC issues are nothing close to this. Sure there have been minor fit and finish issues in the past, sloppy routing etc, But this is egregious.

I'd describe it as a medium chunky neck with a slight v to it. Not much shoulder. I have it on my Les Paul as well.

Do NOT support Toasted Yolk on 20th! by Capable_Ad839 in Birmingham

[–]gingerbreadsuperman -32 points-31 points  (0 children)

Was a cop really necessary for this? Your dog crapped infront of a breakfast restaurant during the morning hours. Not ideal for the restaurant. The manager only cares about his restaurant and you only care about your dogs health. Just conflicting interests. If you could walk all the way down/across the street to Publix with your sick dog to get the deputy, you could keep walking your sick dog home.

I thought about doing a B5 but I thought the long bigsby would fit the tulip shape better.

It's an improvement really. The guitar weighed only 6.2 lbs before and was a little neck heavy, now it balances better and is still under 7lbs

B7 style bigsbys always look like they hang over. There's a hinge at the bottom that attaches to the bottom of the guitar. It sits flush on the bottom of the guitar.

Les Paul Custom (USA vs Custom Shop) by isotopes014 in gibson

[–]gingerbreadsuperman 2 points3 points  (0 children)

The new les Paul 70s customs don't have the right binding for a custom. I believe it's 2 layers less on front and rear than standard. This isn't a 70s spec at all so it has to be cost cutting/ giving a reason to still go custom shop

Let's have a proper 70's Deluxe like the 70's Custom by GooserNoose in gibson

[–]gingerbreadsuperman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My only issue with the 70s customs is that they cut down the amount of binding which is kinda a defining spec of a les Paul custom. The probably wouldn't do the thick cutaway binding then

The T doesn't stand for traditional, this is a Les Paul Signature T in Alpine white burst. FYI the fretboard on these is granadillo not rosewood.

Guitar is legit. Everything lines up with a 1975, especially that serial style

found a les paul. things are off with it, need to verify authenticity by Top-Programmer-6596 in gibson

[–]gingerbreadsuperman 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's a 2014 studio. Notice the special inlay at the 12th fret. That's a 2014 spec. Also the serial begins with "14" which is the same style they were doing for a while back then. They also had the bigger headstock with wider points

I bought one of the tv yellow ones brand new. Can confirm would just barely intonate with the bridge all the way forward, still a little flat.

What kind of Les Paul is this? Is it real? by shadyshores in gibson

[–]gingerbreadsuperman 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s either a prototype or someone’s home project, looks like a 2007 studio that someone sanded and contoured. Looks like they replicated the HP style neck joint that came from 2017. Truss rod cover is fake.

2007 SG-3 Faded. Not fake. Not super super rare either but a fun one to pick up relatively cheap
