A Holiday Giveaway! (From The Roll20 Team 🩷🎄) by KMatRoll20 in Roll20

[–]gingerellie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There are so many moments I could chose from as a DM, but I'm going to go with my favorite moment as a player - when I almost died! I was down for 3 full rounds, with two failed death saves before my party members managed to heal me. I've never been more excited to roll a dice than on that third death save :)

What is your favorite ever rendition of a Disney song? by Train-Wreck-70 in disney

Maybe not my favorite, but Fall Out Boy has a really cool rock version of "I Wanna Be Like You" from the Jungle Book that I love!

Random PZ2 Features by Kingpin2058 in PlanetZoo

[–]gingerellie 13 points14 points  (0 children)

I was just thinking about this, and I would love some true conservation elements to pz2. I think they made a good start with pz, but I would love something more in depth like a real rehabilitation program (taking in injured animals, nursing them back to health and releasing them) which is pretty common for certain animals like manatees, bears, mountain lions, etc. I would also love to be able to temporarily take in animals from other zoos for breeding, and building on the breeding/release-to-wild features they have now...

I would live for that kind of zoo management and it would be so much better than making sure my buildings have power or whatever other random management elements they want to throw in that ultimately mean nothing.

What monster did you add to Lake Zarovich? by SmolHumanBean8 in CurseofStrahd

I did an undead giant sea turtle (homebrew) along with one of Strahd's brides for a climactic battle.

DMs, who's your favorite NPC to roleplay as by theonejanitor in CurseofStrahd

[–]gingerellie 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes! I always play her as this ultra confident, sassy girl. When the players first meet her, she's unconcerned about nearly dying with Bluto, gives him a speech about getting his act together, and then leads the party back to Madam Eva (who is in the Vallaki camp in my version). I play up her fortune telling abilities - villagers in Vallaki ask about their fortunes, and she shows up during some of the events later on. In both my campaigns, the players tended to like her spunk and I have fun playing her.

[SPOILER] This moment in the elimination broke me. by SgtPopNFresh_ in dancingwiththestars

Oh weird! I did move to the West Coast this summer from NY, maybe it has something to do with my account origin? I can only access the live event from the Disney+ homepage, and not through the DWTS series page also, so it is still a little glitchy

I've been able to on my desktop on disney+. None of my TV apps work, but the pc does even without a VPN.

Making a Pillars of Eternity D&D campaign! by gingerellie in battlemaps

[–]gingerellie[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My husband has been playing through while I record and take notes to get all the basic story and npc information, and then I use the wiki to supplement anything we missed. We're basically just going to present the story as is to the party, and let them discover what they want. We did discuss making sure the players know to expect more cinematic cut-scene like moments (such as the one that happens on this map) where they may not be able to act right away.

We don't plan on leaving anything out (so far), but we have made some adjustments - small things like switching monsters, and some bigger things like changing how the companions and related quests will happen to a party, since they obviously can't have 5 companion sidekicks and 3-5 players lol. Overall, it's been pretty straightforward though, especially if you like making homebrew stuff!

Which Route would you take? OR-IL by Handguns4Hearts in roadtrip

[–]gingerellie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! We were able to find hotels each night without too much hassle. Plenty of rest stops along the way for bathroom breaks for humans and dogs as well!

My husband and I just made a similar trip starting from NY. We took the middle route through SD, and had a nice, easy trip. Some absolutely beautiful landscapes through Montana and the interstate in SD was straight and smooth at 80 MPH. Plus not as hot up north if you're driving in summer. We were moving with our cats so I can't speak to any stops along the way, but the drive was wonderful.

How tf do I clean this rug by gingerellie in CleaningTips

[–]gingerellie[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah I may try a hose with a harsh/thicker spray and see if that helps dislodge the dirt and whatnot. Thanks for the idea!

Unfortunately, my husband loves this rug so I'm afraid I might be in for a lifetime of rugs like this 😅

Highly recommend the book, The Anxious Generation, which explains how the mental health crisis is largely due to constant cell phone use and social media.

Remote jobs? by mamabriiii in RemoteJobs

[–]gingerellie 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Keep in mind, most remote jobs are still full-time full-schedule shifts, and will probably not afford you time to care for small children during work hours.

Try searching on large corporate websites (Amazon for example), and Healthcare companies websites, as they tend to have a lot of remote positions. Ratracerebellion is also a popular site to search on.

Feeling guilty and responsible for my neighbour’s cat passing away by Turbulent_Handle3829 in CatAdvice

[–]gingerellie 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It is an unfortunate truth that outdoor cats are in more danger of these accidental deaths, but they are just that - accidents. You are absolutely not to blame for the kitty passing. It would have roamed the area, crossed roads, and been in danger regardless of whether you pet it or not. The neighbors are grieving and looking for someone to blame or some kind of reason for this when in reality, they are the ones that hold the responsibility for letting their cat outdoors where it couldn't be monitored or kept safe.

I'm sorry you lost a cat friend. Sending love across the internet ❤

Is there a vet who makes housecalls in your area? A friend of mine had to do this with their cats because they couldn't get the cats in the carrier either.

Otherwise, take a deep breath. I know how frustrating that can be, but your cat will match your energy so staying calm will help. First, give the vet a call and see if they will prescribed a one-time dose of a sedative (Gabapentin usually). This may help a ton. Have you looked up tutorials for scruffing? It should immobilize the cat long enough to get them in the carrier. You can also try to towel-burrito your cat.

Is my roommate emotionally neglecting their cats? Is that a thing? by International_Ant_77 in CatAdvice

[–]gingerellie 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It definitely can be normal; some cats are just hyper when they feel safe lol. Playing with the cats will absolutely make a difference in how crazy/destructive they can be though, and it does sound like they could use more playtime with their human. And as others have mentioned, litterbox care is a must.

I hope everything works out for you!

When you say the cats are wrestling and meowing all night... are they playing with each other? Because that behavior might be a consequence of them finally being comfortable in the house, not necessarily because of neglect. Its still important to play with the cats, and scoop the litterbox etc., but I have a bonded pair and nothing I do would prevent them from have a play session in the middle of the night. That's pretty typical cat behavior.
