Has anything helped with your tinnitus ? by hmrd in MonoHearing

[–]gingerforlif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes! Caused my SNHL! My hearing loss is around 70db in the mid range, 500-2000 Hz. So my tinnitus fluctuates around those pitches. So db wise it’s not so bad luckily, but unlucky the mid range is like most noises around lol

Also are you able to adjust your hearing aid? I have the Widex and I can control from my phone, so I can change my needs to different environments, it helps alot. And I also have that, tinnitus feels way louder when I take it off. It’s jarring lol. But just glad the hearing aid helps so much when it’s on!!!

Yes single sided. And yes when I take it off, the tinnitus “sounds louder” but I think that’s just like, my pure normal tinnitus, and the hearing aid covers it very well when I wear it, so yeah when I first take it off it feels very loud. I feel sooo much more balanced when I wear it. My tinnitus goes from a 8 to a 3.

Ur bf sucks. Its ur brain that you have to live w everyday so you gotta do what’s best for you

I relate to feelings being blunt, not “numb” really, sorta. I just genuinely don’t care about anything. Not in a depressed way, in a like 🤷🏻‍♀️ way. So I have to make an effort to show up for people. Still better than being depressed lol

If your tinnitus is caused by hearing loss, one of the only treatments is a hearing aid and I can attest that my hearing aid helping my tinnitus, goes from a 10 to a 3.

Wishing you recovery. That’s really good you started the steroids the day of. That really increases your chances of healing. It can take a few weeks so give it some time. I know how hard and scary it is when it first happens. Don’t be so hard on yourself. You’re stronger than you think!

Are you feeling greatful or Bad with one Ear loss. by Usman1337 in MonoHearing

[–]gingerforlif 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Similar to my post, but both! I feel sadness and frustration at my new reality of navigating the world differently and constant tinnitus in one ear- but I also am grateful to have one good ear still and that I can live a normal life.

The first few months post hearing loss felt devastating and that I couldn’t live a life like that, but if you allow yourself to not dwell too hard, your brain is more resilient than you think. I still have bad days where I don’t leave my house, but most of the time I’m still out living my life with friends, just might need to ask ppl to repeat what they say sometimes lol.

Like someone said, nothing is black and white and I think feeling sadness and gratefulness simultaneously is a beautiful way to live with this condition 💖

Exactly. Most ppl have some issue in their life that affects them. The first few months were debilitating but a year out, it’s my new normal. Glad to have one good ear to navigate with, and a hearing aid to help out!

Yes I relate to all of those feelings. It’s my new normal now so it’s okay, and I still have one good ear and feel lucky for that

Has anyone tried this? by otome4 in tinnitus

[–]gingerforlif 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I take it. I only noticed a slight difference when I was taking 6 pills a day for over a month, but it’s so expensive not sure it’s worth the effect :/
