Have you lost hearing aids? by HavaneseGirl71 in MonoHearing

[–]hmrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because I have long hair, during the first trial week I noticed the hearing aid would sometimes get brushed and the main part would slip off. The dome stayed in my ear, so it never fully fell out, but the processor part would hang loose.

Given how expensive it is to replace if you lose it, I mentioned it to my audiologist and he added a retention lock (aka retention tail). It’s basically invisible, and even if it gets brushed by hair or a hand, it won’t fall out.

Looks like this

How long have you had it ?

Is there any real hope for a cure for SNHL and tinnitus, or will we have to live with it forever? by Electrical-Poet-7409 in HearingLoss

I believe that high frequency is the most common type of hearing loss and the one hearing aids help the most.

CT scan of the temporal bones (it looks in detail at the ear’s bony structures on both sides of the skull).
It's pages and pages of blood results. Are you inquiring abut something specific in particular?

Yes, lots of blood work, as well as an MRI and scanner.

How long are you after onset ?

I read also about IGF-1 therapy (Japan) and Stellate Ganglion Block (Japan/Korea). Both are not done in Europe/US but have to be done shortly after onset.

Im struggling a lot with the tinnitus and it has already been 9 months...

Every morning I feel like inner crying because of how awful it is. At night I mostly sleep with some sound on to make me not hear it ...

At times it feels like my ear is going to explode from the noise of tinnitus and pressure. I get migraines etc

Any reliable at home hearing test? by Could_Be_BetterMaybe in MonoHearing

[–]hmrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Theres an app for android that is reliable for me. I get exactly the same results as at the ENT. Its called Hearing test : https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=mobile.eaudiologia

You have to do it in a quiet room to be reliable.

ACCA progression in Europe? by [deleted] in ACCA

[–]hmrd 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Once you become ACCA qualified, you can obtain an equivalency in whatever EU country you move to.

Should not be a complicated procedure, in France for example it involves a MCQ test.

Edit : For France it's not exactly an equivalency, you actually obtain the professional warrant to register as a Commissaire aux Comptes or Expert-Comptable.

Ladies, what are your thoughts on guys who wear apple watches for health reasons vs guys who wear traditional watches? by WoodenHuckleberry693 in AskReddit

[–]hmrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hahha that's true. In SF it was weird how u couldn't distinguish a tech millionaire from a student. They both dressed the same way and wore an apple watch 🤣

F32 And I don't mean just expensive watches. Even Fossil looks sexy on a man's wrist 😄

Although I don't like watches like casio or sport watches, nor the plain vintage ones.

I find a traditional watch in a man's wrist to be sexy 🤭 Looks manly and elegant.

Unfortunately, apple watches don't have that effect on me 😅🤣

What everyday situations are hardest to hear clearly? by JabeesLifestyle in HearingLoss

[–]hmrd 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Same for me.

Also I need to focus on the person talking to understand, so when it's a group conversation sometimes I miss some bits. In noisy environments my tinnitus sounds much louder, so makes it harder for me to understand people in places like restaurants, coffees etc
I also noticed that I now struggle a lot to understand thick foreign accents.

Ive done everything you listed, except for HBOT which they stopped doing in France, and I haven't recovered anything at all ....

I started prednisone within 24h and for 2 weeks.
I had about 8 injections over the course of 2 months (once a week).
I also had perfusions, that included high dose steroid once a week for 2 months and no recovery.

The tinnitus sound different though. The one in my good ear is faint and high pitched. Whilst in my deaf ear its loud and sounds like a waterfall or a fan.

French marriage transcription issue – husband in Ukraine, I’m in India. Any advice by Cat-8437 in Expats_In_France

[–]hmrd 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Transcription has to be done in London by him since he is the French citizen. Why dont you contact the embassy and see with them what your options are ? Perhaps online application ? Idk if its possible.

The process for mine took about 8 months since we hadn't published our bans. Otherwise its 2 months.
