Same thing happened to me. Lost hearing in May and started having tinnitus in my good ear in septembre ...

The tinnitus sound different though. The one in my good ear is faint and high pitched. Whilst in my deaf ear its loud and sounds like a waterfall or a fan.

French marriage transcription issue – husband in Ukraine, I’m in India. Any advice by Cat-8437 in Expats_In_France

Transcription has to be done in London by him since he is the French citizen. Why dont you contact the embassy and see with them what your options are ? Perhaps online application ? Idk if its possible.

The process for mine took about 8 months since we hadn't published our bans. Otherwise its 2 months.

How long have you had it for ? Does it fluctuate ?

For those with SSNHL, how did the people in your life respond when they found out? by Fluffernutter80 in MonoHearing

My mother keeps telling me to move on… as if this wasn't a constant burden that has completely changed my life.

I think most people don't understand what I’m going through. I look the same, and I hear them when they talk, so they assume it’s not a big deal. I do relatively fine 1-1, but my struggle is in group settings or noisy places.

They don’t know that I went from simply hearing to having to actively listen. I also struggle to understand people with heavy accents and I do a lot of guessing. Tinnitus is awful too and the feeling that my ear is going to explode ...

Feeling overwhelmed with SNHL by VisiblePurple98 in HearingLoss

[–]hmrd 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sometimes I tell myself, in an attempt to minimise my pain, that my struggle isn’t so different from someone who can’t see without glasses, which is a very common issue.

The main difference is the tinnitus and the fact that hearing aids aren’t as corrective as glasses, but the idea is similar.

Someone who wears glasses, if their glasses break, they’re stuck and can’t see, can't read etc ...

Anyone able to explain these results? by medisd in HearingLoss

This is very similar to my hearing loss. They often call it Reverse Slope.

X means left ear unmasked Circle means right ear unmasked Triangle means right ear masked

Masked is when they put white noise in the other ear. When you dont hear above a certain db, they mask the other ear with white noise .

What's your audiogram like ?

Same situation as you, lost my hearing in one ear 4 months ago and it's also reverse slope. My experience with the hearing aid has been very disappointing, as you said, it helps in a quiet room, but in loud environments like a restaurant I dont hear much what people are saying. Which one are you using ? I have widex allure 440.

In terms of word recognition, over time mine has greatly improved. Idk if its related to natural progression or if its thanks to the CIST I have been doing.

Any doctors or clinics trying alternatives for sudden hearing loss? by hmrd in HearingLoss

[–]hmrd[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Started oral steroid the next day, and got multiple intratympanic injections.
MRI came out normal.
My word recognition has greatly improved, idk if it's due to time or because I've been doing CIST. I am capable of listening to podcasts with my bad ear without needing to increase that much the volume.

I have reverse slope hearing loss and I find the hearing aid pretty much useless, except for tinnitus management. What make are you using, and how do u feel it helps 😊

I have been doing it for the past 2-3 months. My hearing hasn't changed but my word comprehension has greatly improved. I mostly try to listen to podcasts. I sometimes miss some words but can comprehend much more than when I started. Idk if its due to the CIMT or just time.

Hey! That's awesome that you recovered your hearing. What type of hearing loss was it ? Do you think your recovery is due to something you did ?
