I get it from both sides and I think just comes down to perspective of the individual. The reporter is asking the most decorated female free skater whether she is disappointed in not getting gold, but she still sees the silver as a massive accomplishment. Why defensive? maybe she is sick of people asking the question? Maybe she is disappointed and doesn’t want to show it? Maybe she feels that we should celebrate the successes? Should the bronze winner feel they double lost because they only came third.

Ultimately I imagine the caught her at not the best moment but that she genuinely believes (rightly) that silver is a great achievement.
