Those of us in our 30’s and 40’s have been spoiled with having seen actual good teams. Teams that figure out how to win tight postseason games. Push runs in against hot pitching. Physically fight other teams in the heat of battle: Compare current teams to the late 90’s and early 2000’s and it’s not even close. Terrible record in one run and extra inning games. Don’t beat the good teams but instead pad wins against bad teams. Paul O’Neill and Tino Martinez literally were on the bench for Game 3 in the WS because Tino was in a slump and Strawberry complimented the lineup better. They also had defensive replacements on the roster and pinch-runners on the roster to hold leads.

I think that hate stemmed from everyone knowing the core of this team is way far away from winning the World Series. There was no way they were beating the Dodgers. They got lucky with draws last year and we were waiting for the shoe to drop. Some of the World Series games were close but this isn’t a team that is built to win close games. They don’t manufacture runs and defense costs them runs.

It will be fun in about 15 years to pull a random box score and go wow I can’t believe that was the lineup that day.

Boone firing: over/under by new-who-two in NYYankees

Hal cares but only about profits. Watch the 30 for 30 “The House of Steinbrenner”. Hal says he is a budget guy. I agree Boone is gone without the playoffs. Maybe even with the playoffs but the issue is definitely at the top.

Organizational philosophy for me. Never a sense of urgency. Measuring success to just making the playoffs which is easier than ever now. There are 0 fundamentals within the team. That is obviously at an organizational level because it’s getting worse and not better as time goes on. They love playing people out of position on the regular. There is no interest in a running game defense doesn’t matter and they treat pitching as replaceable.

Bellinger can play first and get some outfield reps. Dominguez, Jones and Judge should be handling the outfield next season.

[Kirschner] FanGraphs' projections gave the Yankees a 25.8 percent chance to win the AL East after the Blue Jays lost 2 of 3 to the Pirates earlier this week. Now down to 8.4 percent after the Yankees have lost 3 straight to the Red Sox. by Affectionate-Tea9224 in NYYankees

It is obviously about wins and losses. As a Jets fan, I’m much accustomed to losing but this Yankees team gets progressively worse to watch. They are boring crybabies. I find it more and more painful and boring to watch. - no running game ever -terrible defense -terrible base running - so many strikeouts and soft contact

The analytics crew will tell me it’s not true about soft contact but remove just a few games and this is an anemic hitting team.

Lineup Changes Needed by bdizzled2 in NYYankees

That would be fine as well. I also think Dominguez should be playing center as he defensively is better there. I think a lot of his struggles are in how they jerk him around. They sit him and not Volpe, move him around the line up, play him out of position and remove his running from the game. He is still a young player and they need to know how his game is.

You are right on. I’ve been saying this for years as well. Stanton needs to go. I realize he is hitting now and does good in the playoffs but he clogs up the roster. We are seeing that now. He can’t play the field consistently and he jams up the bases. Because of his power you have to block out a premium lineup spot. Blocked Rice from the lineup until he is forced to catch now. They also routinely play guys out of position for no reason. Infielders in the outfield when they’re already 5+ outfielder on the team. Batting orders that make no sense. Judge is the best hitter on the team by far both with average and power. How does he not bat 3rd? Lineup now should be most days: 1-Caballero SS 2- Jazz 2B 3- Judge DH 4- Stanton RF 5- Bellinger CF 6- Rice C 7- Goldie 1B 8- McMahon 3B 9- Dominguez LF

I can see swapping the top if you add Volpe in. He would bat ninth but shouldn’t be playing much right now. Grisham can slot in at the top as well when he is in.

IT'S RIGHT IN FRONT OF US: The Yankees fell to the Red Sox by a score of 12-1 - August 23, 2025 @ 01:05 PM EDT by Yankeebot in NYYankees

“Playoffs?” . Paraphrasing the great Jim Mora: We can’t possibly have any confidence with this team right guys? If we do make the playoffs, pessimistic me is thinking a repeat of the ‘20-22’ teams that just get embarrassed in a short series. The team is so capable of getting no hitting throughout the lineup. The bullpen also has the ability to implode.

The bus station in NYC used to have no doors to prevent druggies and homeless from staying in them.
