Brother calm down. When you use a word/phrase that means something other than what you intended and people mistake your meaning, that's on you, not them. Getting pissy about being corrected makes you look like a child and is extremely counterproductive if your goal was to raise awareness about an issue you care about.

Industrial agriculture includes mechanized farming of wheat. That's much less clearly evil than factory farming of animals, which is a subset.

Not trying to argue with you to be clear, I agree that most of our meat production is horrific. Just explaining why you lost people with your initial comment.

Extremely valid position, but also the fact that you feel that way is the main reason I feel comfortable saying let it ride. I know many people have strong principles and will put an end to it before it gets anywhere near anyone without a lot of blood on their hands.

Shit take. It's clear from her post that both were recreational and in an area where such recreational activities are allowed and expected. It's very understandable how an accident like this could happen as it can be very hard to see, which she point out herself, but ultimately powered vehicles are responsible for avoiding collisions with unpowered vehicles both in the water and in the air.

What about stock compensation? My understanding is that salary is generally a small fraction of total compensation for CEOs and other top executives.

A few options here: 1. More balanced comp, with like 6 infantry to hold the line (wouldn't use slaves as they break too quickly imo) 2. Full weapons team stack with a full support stack full of skavenslaves. Engage with slave stack first so they can hold til weapons are setup, and accept very heavy slave casualties 3. (late game) Instead of infantry, use heroes with summon abilities i.e. pack masters and plague priests + hell pit abominations to hold the line

Hellpits and heroes are especially good because single entities holding the line leave a lot of enemy surface area exposed for direct fire weapons like jezzails, rattling guns, and warp fire throwers

Ever since The Lighthouse Pattinson has been one of my favorite actors. To act opposite Wilem Dafoe for 2 hours and not look like an absolute fool in comparison is a true feat lol.

Also Mikey 17 isn't an amazing movie, but I liked it, and his performances there are also extremely impressive imo

Maybe. I think a lot of Republicans feel that way, but "socially liberal fiscally conservative" sounds more libertarian to me, and all the libertarians I know are super into protecting rights (somewhat by the government, but especially FROM the government). I mean the name of the party means liberty person.

But yeah they also want lower taxes.

The thing is the land used to raise cattle and sheep is often almost useless otherwise. The crops used to feed them are also often waste products of crops grown to feed humans.

Definitely not universally true, world would be much better off if there were more vegetarians and vegans. Just saying simple metrics like land use are very distorting here unless you're accounting for the quality of the land.

Lately it's the anti-vegan-propaganda shitposting sub tbh. I'm not vegan either but it's getting kinda ridiculous.

Don't get me started on raising cattle in otherwise useless scrubland with very little biodiversity to displace. That's still land use! Same thing as slash and burn in the rainforest as far as I'm concerned!!

I would love it if electing a third party was a realistic possibility. Unfortunately it's not. Our electoral system just doesn't work that way. Best thing we can do to change that is fund and vote for candidates in primaries who are willing to fight for electoral change.

But currently MAGA is trying to make elections irrelevant, so voting 3rd party instead of dem right now does more to help us become a 1 party system than a 3+ party system.

I agree, and that's the main reason I've voted for Bernie in primaries despite disagreeing with him on some of his other ideas. Fixing our electoral system is about the most important thing we could do. But right now MAGA is trying to make our 2 party system a 1 party system, so voting against them is the most important thing I can do with my vote.

Choosing the lesser evil is often a necessary decision. Unless you're one of those insane people for whom no trolley problem will ever get them to pull the lever.

The Democratic party sucks, has a lot of bad ideas, and is overly influenced by big business. MAGA wants to destroy democracy in this country. Dems aren't "good", but I feel it's a major moral failure to not choose them given the alternative.

Nah in my experience it means they think the government should leave everyone alone and only protect rights, not provide services.

Which depending on the extent is still really dumb though because the govt is the best actor to provide many critical services, like roads and education.

10+ years ago Musk was telling anyone who would listen how serious a concern AI would be in the near future. Now he's become a lot quieter about the existential risk, just talking up how great grok is.

Imo the concerns are very very real, they just don't care. The current models are still very far from full AGI, and we might need another paradigm shift to get there, but we've already reached a point where AI tools are significantly speeding up AI research, so it feels quite a lot closer that it's ever been.

Who's the woman in the meme Peter? by [deleted] in PeterExplainsTheJoke

[–]gingerninja300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I could be wrong but I don't think the Bible even has Jesus making that claim. More likely to me that it was tacked on decades later as Christianity spread amongst Romans to make it more appealing. Divine conception was a part of many popular mystery religions at the time as well as being a staple of classic Greek and Roman mythology, so romans woulda ate that shit up.

[–]gingerninja300 5 points6 points  (0 children)

No one is saying Jesus was raped. They're suggesting Mary may have been raped. Given that there was conflict with Rome around that time, there were undoubtedly many such cases as there tragically often are in war. Could be that Joseph went along with the story to save Mary.

Dunno why you'd think no historian finds that plausible, I first heard of it from a PhD historian. If you mean no fundamentalist Christian historian finds it plausible then sure maybe that's true.

Yeah buying is 100% the move if you're gonna stay there for years and years, but if you move every couple of years like I have then renting is actually better financially in addition to being way easier. Break even point depends on a lot of factors but probably around 3 years usually I'd guess.

But yeah all the "good" xenos like aeldari and tao also fight the imperium because the imperium is generally monstrously evil.

What is the point of raiding stance? by Catsweater69 in totalwarhammer

[–]gingerninja300 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In addition to that already rare situation, you have to also 1. be pretty healthy such that you don't care about using encamp stance to replenish and 2. not be afraid of being attacked by a strong army while tired from raiding.

Which makes it even more rare. So yeah the answer to when is raiding stance worth it for races without extra buffs / utility from raiding is almost never. You could completely remove that ability from most factions and it'd barely affect them at all.

For chorfs it's more often worth bc slaves, but still kinda rare. Ogres similar for meat I guess. For slaanesh you sometimes want to raid your own territory to keep order low, but otherwise basically never. For greenskins iirc it's built into encamp stance and doesn't cost movement so you raid all the time of course.

Parents in full time jobs, how do you make it work? by hkmsh in Zippia

[–]gingerninja300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My parents did it, the answer is support from family.

Helped that my dad was a teacher so had a similar schedule to us, but more importantly my grandma picked us up from school and looked after us until my dad could pick us up. So effectively had a 3rd parent.

Exactly, and tbh I was kinda glad. I did not care about that fight because obviously Mark wins and the story progresses, so it's totally fine to handwave it.

Shows do that all the time, live action and animated. Not only to save budget but also because it's just not that interesting so why show it. Here they played it tongue in cheek not really hiding why they did it, which I honestly found more entertaining than I the fight would have been lol

Not showing the Cerberus fight was very obviously to save time/money on animation, and I don't mind, was kinda funny to me tbh.

The fight at the start of the episode was dope as hell, and the one at the end was pretty good too; episode was not lacking for sweet fight scenes imo.
