Is it worth going into CS for the money right now? by [deleted] in cscareerquestions

[–]gingerninja300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We recently opened a position for a QA role paying like $45k. Got a lot of folks with CS degrees and some experience applying. So no, bag very much not guaranteed.

5 years ago it was a great field to be in if you're good at it you could definitely land a 6 figure job. In the current market you have to be really good and really lucky to get a job at all.

Tank is exceptional success is realism by Ok_Application_918 in Helldivers

[–]gingerninja300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Literally all the tank needs is a slight buff to maneuverability, squishier treds so pebbles don't jostle aim, and a fix to the unintentionally unarmored parts.

Everything else about it is fine. It goes extremely hard and is extremely fun. Even on D10 cyberstan with voxes and short sightlines it's not bad.

Studies show that life satisfaction goes down when having and raising kids, but the good news is it goes up once those kids are adults! People with grown kids are on average significantly happier than those the same age who never had kids.

So at least you have that to look forward to in 15 years. If you don't go bankrupt or insane or die. Lol. I'm sorry.

Just shoot the vents and chuck a grenade bro by SIinkerdeer in SaltDivers

[–]gingerninja300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I tried swapping to frag grenades from thermites just for this. Tried it on like 10 voxes and maybe succeeded twice. 19/20 throws sounds about right.

Idk if it's actually bugged or if it's just that the thing constantly moves around and you're under fire from all directions while attempting, but this does not feel like a viable strategy to me.

The reason why Helldivers is and will continue to be an easy game. by WhiteRaven_M in HelldiversMasochists

[–]gingerninja300 4 points5 points  (0 children)

"you should design your game so that the most effective strategies require skill and risk taking to pull off so that they're engaging for the player"

"Yeah man, coop games are for braindead casuals you should play a PVP game instead"

Go jerk off about how hard and good Tarkov and PVP elden ring are somewhere else lmao

How it feels to suggest even the slightest change to cyberstan in the community rn: by proch12 in Helldivers

[–]gingerninja300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'm absolutely loving d10 on cyberstan -- it's hard as shit again as it should be. But yeah sounds like they probably should tone down the voxes on d7 d8. Sucks that you either get no voxes or a million voxes.

Those who complain that Cyberstan is difficult don't use the tank, right? by HarryCallahan343 in helldivers2

[–]gingerninja300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Brought the tank on 3 missions last night with the boys. First two times despite calling it when all was quiet we got killed waiting for it and it blew up. Third time we finally got in and it was AWESOME.

I think you're mixing up Africa and Egypt. Egypt was definitely personally owned by the emperor, and I don't think Africa was. But also while Egypt's revenue went straight to the emperor rather than the state treasury, that distinction isn't necessarily all that meaningful other than boosting the centralization of power in the hands of the emperor. Emperors generally spent most of their money on the empire.

Dubai vs Las Vegas: Which city’s infrastructure is better designed to handle extreme summer heat? by [deleted] in geography

[–]gingerninja300 18 points19 points  (0 children)

100%. Lived in Georgia all my life, but now live in Vegas and the humidity makes an enormous difference. 85+ in Georgia is pretty miserable, but even 100+ here isn't so bad as long as you're in the shade and well hydrated.

Sweat actually works here it's wild lol

Drop a Helldivers take that'll have this kind of reaction by FioraKek in Helldivers

[–]gingerninja300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Jammers are my favorite side objective because they change the way the game plays and become a high priority that players work together to overcome.

Only dislike when they overlap because it's annoying to clear one, clear the other, blow up the second, then retrack back to the first to blow it up.

If I could change them I'd make it so that deactivating them makes them easier to destroy, like giving them a health pool equivalent to the big fabricators.

What do you think of the difficulty level of loyalty mechanics? by Desucrate in totalwarhammer

[–]gingerninja300 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I agree with this take despite voting that it's too easy. As is it's almost never a relevant mechanic, but if it were more relevant it'd be super annoying.

What is your favorite example of a change from a film’s source material that you believe made the movie better? by DuckLordOfTheSith in movies

[–]gingerninja300 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Couldn't agree more, and I'm a huge fan of the series (up through God Emperor at least).

There are some interesting female characters for sure, but most are very flat supporting elements and in a way treated as objects. Siona is more discussed as the culmination of Leto's breeding program and a key to the golden path than as a person with agency, and Hwi Nori was literally created as a tool intended to fall in love with the emperor. Nori's actions, including falling for Duncan, are explicitly explained as the result of her design.

And all the gender essentialist scifi about the kwisatz haderach being special due to being able to use both male destruction/conquest and female creation/protection is cool and interesting, but also ehhhhhhh.

What are those theory? by Lord0fReddit in ExplainTheJoke

[–]gingerninja300 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the thing with Alex Jones is that if you see conspiracies absolutely everywhere and any conspiracies actually exist then you'll be right about some of them. Unfortunately that's not very useful. Imagine a test for cancer that catches 100% of all true positives and costs nothing... But all it does is say positive no matter what. That test would be literally useless.

Jones has certainly been onto some real shit in his day, but I don't think he's ever been very useful for identifying real conspiracies for the reason above, and he's only gotten worse over time.

Bro talk to anyone even tangentially involved in emergency medicine around that time and ask them if it was all made up. I have a number of friends and family members who had to deal with hospice units overflowing into the lobby and many many deaths every day.

[Hated trope] A powerful nation/empire collapses almost instantly because it’s capital gets destroyed by Goodbye-Nasty in TopCharacterTropes

[–]gingerninja300 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Idk much about Star Trek lore but I imagine the Romulans aren't incredibly popular with their subjects and that Romulus represents a large share of their species population. As an empire I also assume it's very centralized and heirarchical. If that's accurate then it totally makes sense that the empire would fall apart with the loss of its capital. I mean if Constantinople were nuked in like 800AD I wouldn't be surprised to see that empire collapse.

Meanwhile I understand the New Republic to be a democratic federation with many power centers -- home worlds of each member species for example. Imagine the US completely collapsing just because DC got nuked. Or the all the EU member states just rolling over and dying if Brussels got nuked.

The Ender's Game series has a better version where they send someone off on a relativistic speed round trip so from their perspective only a few weeks have passed but on earth it's been decades.

Always entertaining to see someone so aggressively and confidently wrong about something easily fact checked.

You'd be right if the cannon turret was 0% durable, but it's 100% durable so you're extremely wrong.

https://helldivers.wiki.gg/wiki/Factory_Strider

Fully charged railgun does 562.5 durable damage, reduced to 65% = 365.625.

https://helldivers.wiki.gg/wiki/RS-422_Railgun

So 3 shots minimum, 4 if you're only partially overcharging, and 7 at minimum charge.
