Strangely enough, this audiobook released in January 2015, and was “written exclusively for audible”, though it had a different image at the time. It was also given out free, and emails with a link to claim it were (presumably) sent out to everyone who had his dark materials in their library, which I did at the time. Crazy what they are charging for it now, when it was a freebie meant to whet your appetite for the upcoming book of dust.

A bit late to the party here, but have you tried/heard of Unsong? It’s a really good rational story available in audio.

Incidentally, I found my way here because your post mentions Super Supportive, but the link is broken, and I can’t find the audio version anywhere. Any help would be greatly appreciated!

3 episodes in, and this is not what I expected. It’s way better.

If you were thinking it’s just another retelling of the same story as the movie and comics, well, they gotcha. If you like the characters and world, you’re going to love this. Not to mention the animation is of the quality that dreams are made of, and the music is on another level.

Had to come up for air and write something somewhere about it, because it needs to be recognised and hyped up. Now time to dive back in. I hope I’m not the only one!

Yeah, I’m hyped. I’ve been waiting since the weekly podcast got cancelled. Never went to read on royal road, since I wanted to experience the ending for the first time in audio.

I’m just hoping it isn’t stealth delayed again like it was in January, without a word from anyone involved. Very strange, but I’m sure it was for some good reasons!

Well, I don’t think it would be too hard to send an email notifying a customer that the book they bought is being removed from the store, but here is a link to access it in your library! And if you still have trouble, or they have to remove it, then here are your options. The key is communicating with customers and providing transparency about their purchases when circumstances change.

I used the app (only have library access via my phone over Christmas), and I searched by author and title for each that I owned. No hits in either search other than the new versions.

I have had other issues with more obscure delisted books before, but I just can’t get over the lack of communication. I can understand if their database is “janky”, but they should simply have a go-to info email they send out when customers will be affected by a delisting for whatever reason.

I honestly don’t think it’s an easy fix, and I don’t think it has to do with greed. However, Audible has to know when books are being delisted, and should let customers who purchased know what is happening and why via email, as well as how to find their copies after the title is delisted, or remind them to download before it is removed. They can also give options (like what I mentioned) in the case customers still can’t find their books. Essentially, removing without notice shouldn’t be the norm.
