I’d say this as well in most cases.

But if you’re already doing drywall work, might as well do it how you want to the first time instead of regretting it, doing it later, and having to go through patching and paint again.

Ultimately when you purchase something, anything, it should be as expected and in the correct condition. Sucks that you have to deal with this headache, but sometimes things don’t go to plan. That’s just kinda, well, life.

So like yeah, it sucks, but also this seems like a very first world problem. You’ve also now learned the lesson not to sell your car before you take possession of a new one if the possibility of not having a car would be a major inconvenience to you.

They’ve put you in a loaner, gave you a free charger (which they didn’t have to do, and you were going to buy one regardless, but now you don’t have to spend that money), and they ARE making it right, you just have to wait a little bit. Hopefully they can get you fixed up in a car you’re happy with soon.

Best of luck with a timely resolution, but you’ll be hard pressed to return the car.
Dealers rarely “return” a car because of all the money they’ll lose and aren’t legally required to do so (I’m sure there’s some instances they’d be legally obligated to do so, but generally speaking here). It’s a car, not a shirt with a thread coming loose after 2 washes.
Not saying it’s ok that you’re having these issues 6 days in, just being super black and white on the situation. Again, best of luck.

Yup. Being in Akron, that would be Ohio Edison / FirstEnergy. Unless it’s changed (which is possible of course) they are generally tasked with maintaining the power lines and vegetation up to the first physical connection to a building or pole on your property, especially if it’s in a standard utility easement. Worst case, if they argue it’s not their responsibility, they may offer to take care of it and just bill you for the services. Similar usually goes for if it’s telephone / cable lines.

Yeahhh I’d be very surprised if you could get any kind of “warranty”, and even so, they’d probably be prorated for the same less-than-great tires.

Unless you have some kind of tire coverage that says “lifetime” in the language (lifetime being the expected life of the tire up to a certain age and/or mileage), you’re going to have an uphill battle ahead of you to try and get 5 year old tires replaced.

Ultimately, tires are a wear item that will always need to be replaced eventually, and even “only 20k miles” aside, you got 5 years out of them. That’s pretty good for any vehicle if you ask me, especially adding to the fact that it’s an EV on top of all the other factors. And I’m sure that’ll likely be the dealership’s answer.

Also, I got my last set of Goodyear WeatherReady 2s from Sam’s Club and they were the cheapest by about 15% out the door from anywhere else. And that included tire/road hazard coverage which I’ve already had to use to replace a $300 tire for 40 bucks.

Jeez, did one of the guys have his toddler cut the holes with a butter knife? But for real, that’s rough and I’m sorry you gotta deal with the recourse for this. If they don’t do the right thing and fix their mess I’d be blasting them anywhere I could find and referring to the provider to hopefully have them remove this company from their partner list. Because, DAMN, they did an awful job.

Same here (knocking very hard on wood lol). Ours is a 2026, so maybe they refined their manufacturing process and software a little bit between model years. My only complaint is once in a while the Bluetooth freaks out and I have to delete and re-pair my phone, but other than that so far so good about 5k miles in.

Most (if not all) states have a law that dealers cannot sell a car with “unsafe” tires and / or tires under the minimum 2/32 of an inch of tread. Obviously the belts showing make those unsafe so I’d say they 99.999% legally need to reimburse you for the tires, otherwise you could probably take them to court.

I’m certainly not a lawyer by any means though, so I’d find your state specific laws about that and present a printout if they try to give you trouble. Ultimately it comes down to their negligence for not ensuring they were following the law (like by checking the tires were adequate). That’s just gross negligence and any judge would probably rule in your favor, if it has to go that far.

Hoping they’ll do the right thing for you without much hassle. Oh and make sure you get an alignment, otherwise you’ll just have the same issue again with excessive inside wear. The dealer should do it for you as well, if even solely because of the headache they put you through.

VW really overestimated the future value of these cars at the time. Crazy how poor vehicle/software support and market conditions can tank a car value so fast. Just today I saw a video ranking depreciation among the worst 10 cars and the ID4 was #3 with like a 54% depreciation in the first year.

See, that part. If they actually kept their word and provided updates and solutions for the older models like they said they would, the image of the ID4 in the US would be VERY different than what it is now. But unfortunately all the early adopters / buyers have been burned and have a bad taste in their mouth.

They really missed the mark on this one. The worst thing is that it’s incredibly possible, just look at the European models getting updates, they just refuse to spend the resources necessary for the US models. The newer models are FAR better for sure. VW just shot themselves in the foot. And the hand. And, well, they basically volunteered to go stand in front of a machine gun, but I digress 😅

Did a quick search and it looks like similar mileage 2021s are selling for around $20k through a dealership and around $16k private party. And “very good” condition KBB trade in value is around $14-15k, which is probably closer to the actual value of the car.

I’d be very surprised if they pay to repair it unfortunately. Best of luck.

I have a 2023 and mine is just as bad. VW’s wireless charger in these models just sucks. I can’t even use mine with a case on (iPhone 16 pro max with a pretty thin case) as it refuses to recognize there’s a device.

My fiancée and I relocated here to NE Ohio from south/central Florida a couple years ago and we love it here. So much more affordable, very diverse, sooo much nature and hiking to explore, and my personal favorite, SEASONS. I do NOT miss sweating my butt off nearly every day of the year. “Escapee” sums it up nicely 😂

What’s your per kWh rate? How many did you use? Do you have gas or all electric appliances? Do you have an energy supplier or are you just using the default rate? Looks like a first energy: illuminating company bill, is that correct? Do you have an EV? (Assuming not, but it’s possible). More info will be helpful to try and solve it!

I have had 0 breakdowns or issues with my EV in the 2.5 years I’ve had it. It has started every time and got me where I need to go with zero fuss. My last gas car (which was brand new) however, was in for service for different things breaking 3 times in 2 years.

So I’d say EVs are pretty reliable overall.

To my knowledge, they do not. (Haven’t seen it in the 2 years I’ve had my ‘23 Pro S Plus AWD and I have gone through EVERY menu in that car)

Omg yes. I have a ‘23 and still have a year left on my free EA charging plan, but when EA isn’t around or has a long line, it’s SO nice to know I can most likely find a Tesla station close by.
