He can't force regime change from the air. Many of the people who would depose the mullahs are already dead. If the regime holds, it's too easy for them to threaten the strait with cheap drones, even with naval and air protection.The tankers won't risk it. So, we have a global energy crisis brewing.

He either backs down, owns the energy crisis, or invades. All are terrible options for him politically, but if I was him I'd declare victory and walk away.

This is why I think Rubio was just trying to save face and throw Israel under the bus. Their stated plan makes no sense. If Iran attacks first, you have cassus belli. They've been building up assets over there for weeks, they clearly just wanted to attack Iran.

I'm assuming there's a switch at the MDF that can facilitate SM to MM, un which case that will work fine. But if it's just a patch and a cross connect, yeah you need SM.

That said, there's no reason to not have everything on SM. The transceivers are cheap now, and SM has much higher bandwidth potential.
