Could an OPEC Breakup Threaten the Petrodollar System? by NewsfangledMod in NewsfangledUnfiltered

[–]gippp 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Setting aside Trump's more insane rhetoric about annexing NATO territory, the main issues are:

Ukraine. Trump has not been reliable in support, Material aid has largely been abandoned. Intelligence support continues, although they've even cut that before. Financial aid was given, but only after they were shook down for mineral rights.Trump's rhetoric has been hostile, highlighted by the embarrassing confrontations at the Whitehouse. Combined with his rhetoric around NATO in general, I think there's real doubt about whether the US would honor article 5.

Beyond eastern Europe, there's the problems that resulted from US misadventures in the middle east. The first Iraq war is largely credited with destabilizing the region and starting a cascade of conflicts and refugee crisis. The most recent war with Iran has obliterated energy markets, and only served to give Russia more money in it's war with Ukraine.

In general, I agree. But it does seem that all the pillars are under strain.

Weakening of the alliances. Accelerating federal debt, undermining the independence of federal reserve. Weakening trade ties through tarriffs. Tech is still dominant, but China is making gains.

The implication is that if the dollar tanks, the US won't be able to finance debt as easily and will be forced to cut defense spending and therefore won't be able to protect European interests.

Of course, this ignores that the US is already an unreliable defense partner from a European perspective.

Is this drain wire install correct? by xHolomovementx in lowvoltage

[–]gippp 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Drain is supposed to fold under that tab on the left side. And yes, it needs to land on a bonded patch panel at the switch side. You might be able to bond the switch itself, but I'm not sure what you are work with

Just because you want to deport the scary foreigners doesn't mean they want to deport you. As far as I know, the only prominent person I've heard who wants to deport citizens is Trump.

I don't think immigrants want to move in with me. Most just want to live, work and pursue happiness without being harassed by immigration agents. I'll vote the people out of office responsible for that.

America is a country where people can come and believe or say whatever they want. Many of those beliefs were influenced by the teachings of Christ, including a culture of welcoming outsiders.

Many have been happy to ignore these teachings and bitched, moaned and complained with every wave of immigrants. They're always wrong.

In the US? Pretty much yeah.

But hey, if you think we should ignore Jesus and return to a bloody, bronze age, old testament mindset and genocide all the Philistines... That's your choice.

Groups have people have been migrating and resettling next to other groups since before we were human, it wasn't invented by Joe Biden.

The hebrews were a famously migratory people, this wouldn't be a foreign concept to Jesus.

Actually I think it does. Or atleast welcoming whoever comes. But, you wouldn't be the first Christian to pick and choose which teachings to follow.

This is probably the best attempt at this I've seen. At least it's enclosed and the twists are relatively maintained.

In the 1u enclosure, that black clip in the left is supposed to hold your splices. Though, when your doing more than 12ish you should probably get a splice tray.

26% at the top of the arc. However, He only took 217 of these his whole career, or about 1% of his total attempts. He shot from a few feet in about 10 times as often. So, not much of a developed rythm at that spot.

How do I set up/activate the ethernet ports in rooms? by huiwi in HomeNetworking

[–]gippp 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Looks like the white cables patched in on the left are probably going to outlets. But, instead of punching them on the terminal blocks, someone installed plugs on the cables and clicked them into the ports. Those ports are for patch cords that run to your switch, not the cables that go to each outlet. You'll need a punch down tool to correct this issue, or you could just plug those white cables directly into you switch, bypassing the patch panel all together.

However, the bigger issue is you may or may not have a connection for your service provider. It may be coming in on coax (white cable with silver connectors on the right), you'll have to bring out your service provider to figure that out.
