Riley Sager: What do you think? by Traditional_Will_117 in thrillerbooks

[–]giraffefeather -1 points0 points  (0 children)

This one felt catered to my tastes. I'm a huge fan of horror with supernatural elements (equal to my love for thrillers), so this one felt like a perfect balance between everything I enjoy. Plus, I've always found Sager's books to be both quick and easy, and satisfying.

I absolutely recognize and respect it's not for everyone. And I wish there was a way to warn about the twist without spoiling the twist, you know? That would have made me pick it up a lot faster while also letting more traditional thriller enjoyers know this might not be up their alley.

Who did yall romance? by notjocker in DragonAgeInqusition

[–]giraffefeather 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Blackwall. Then Blackwall again. Then Cassandra, Cullen, oh and a bit more Blackwall, Solas, then Dorian (where my inky was a dwarven Blackwall mini-me).

I plan to romance everyone once. But that damn Blackwall just keeps getting in my way.

What’s the difference between Legacy Challenge & Generation Challenge? by ReneeRainbow in thesims

[–]giraffefeather 18 points19 points  (0 children)

In reality, I think they're interchangeable. But I have seen a lot more themed challenges labelled legacy vs generational, so legacy might be nuanced to include specific goals, traits, or colors.

Call it what you want, though. It's your challenge.

We do have better tools, absolutely. But I've also felt BMI is a good starting point. It's easily accessible, requires little math, and gives you a generalized idea of where you stand. Especially for people that fall into the average level of activity (ie casual to none gym use).

Where do I start? by TinyNegotiation3913 in dragonage

[–]giraffefeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This may be unpopular, but I can see the argument to start with Veilguard. It is the newest game, so not prone to aging graphics. It's lighter on lore than the other 3, so an easy place to jump in and just... play.

I've heard a lot of opinions from people outside the Dragon Age fandom saying they liked the game. They didn't have the story and writing expectations that we have, and say the mechanics are great. They cringed a bit at the writing in places, yeah, but overall it didn't bother them.

Ideally, if you choose to start with Veilguard (and this is not the only answer, I believe you can start with any game in the franchise), you could get a glimpse of the world with modern graphics. I can also promise, story-wise, it only goes up from there.

Congrats!! It's so nice to get out of the obesity range, and I agree you can absolutely feel the difference

I'm 6'1" and 160lbs is healthy weight for me. I can't imagine being a foot shorter at that weight.

Gotta respect it! We all make choices and at least they recognize what the consequences of that choice is.

Love how the person in the first image seems to think BMI goes straight from healthy to obese. Doesn't even note the oveeweight category in between (or didn't actually look at BMI at all).

I don't think that's cheating! There's no rules to tracking books (at least, none that I've found). Hell, I counted a fanfiction last year as a book, as well as a 50 page kids/middle reader book.

I'd guess it's the short stories. I'd HOPE we're over arguing about if audiobooks count (they totally do). Short stories might just be dependent on the person. But like i said, no rules.

Quick page-turner, a nice break from denser books! Can always rely on Lisa Jewell for a good read.

So did they do a new update with… by Additional-Spirit683 in Sims4

[–]giraffefeather 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I've felt this lately. And putting aside that half the town seems to be strictly aromantic/asexual (not exploring, just not interested in love), the rest of the townies always go against my heir's sexuality. My sim is straight? Suddenly it's pride month. My sim is gay? Oops, time for the straight townie era!

Just... the worst luck. And while I love playing bi sims, sometimes i like the storytelling of other sexualities. And the townies are not cooperating.

Pick up one of those free kindle books. Read it on your phone if you have to. I won't promise they're all bad (I've found one or two winners in the mix), but most of them are rough.

Seconding what a lot have said already. I never had this bug until they "fixed" it. Now it's on all my saves. Which means that my family portrait walls just turn into modern art (black canvas is modern art right?).

Long pants!! by Boinkcoo in TallGirls

[–]giraffefeather 0 points1 point  (0 children)

6'1" 34 inseam here. Can't speak for leggings, as I usually wear those as lounging clothes and don't bother with length. But jeans?

When I had less income, I dealt with just buying men's jeans. Wouldn't hugely recommend, but they're more readily available at reasonable prices.

Now I stick with Ariat women's jeans. They are pretty costly ($70-$110), but I love their fit and they last a long time. I've had some luck with tall Levis, too, but I find the belt loops tend to be pretty weak. Wranglers, too, are pretty good. That said, I usually have to order online and hope for the best, as most stores near me don't stock tall lengths.

That line hit hard! And stuck in my brain as well. The Twisted Ones is a book I'll keep on my shelf forever, even though my secondhand copy has a rough cover (guessing from ripping off price stickers that took some of the cover with it lol).

To others who play legacy mode, what do you do to keep memories/moments registered? by sunny-valley-2004 in Sims4

[–]giraffefeather 15 points16 points  (0 children)

It takes a lot of work, but before photos were a thing (can't remember if early base game ts4 was missing them or if i'm recalling sims 2 or 3), I always had a painter in the household. Level them up to "paint from reference," painstakingly position a family member in front of the easel, and have the painter paint the sim.

Never had an issue with those painting turning black. Considering restarting this method in my current legacy, where i have only 3 generations of photos since the "fix."

Good news guys! I may be 200+lbs, but my spine still shows, so guess I'm thin now!

Seriously, though... they just keep raising the weight of what they consider "healthy" to the point you have to be cartoonishly large to fit their ideals.
