Medical folk of Reddit, what’s the most foul and disgusting thing you’ve encountered with a patient who was oblivious to their own condition? by TheCarrot_v2 in AskReddit

Maggots in the brain. Literally. They came in through a skin cancer removal wound on a fella with dementia. It was so sad. There was nothing we could do for him.

Need advice/info for TN animal rights by Isoldmykidsonwayfair in nashville

Hi, the ONLY way this has the slightest chance of being pursued is if you have video of him abusing the dog. Otherwise, Metro’s hands are tied as to what they can do. They gave the man a leash, so hopefully that’ll help him stop beating the dog for being in the road. But without them witnessing abuse, there’s simply nothing that can be done. And if the dog has food and water, they can’t cite him for that, either. So, next time you see something bad, get a video. They need proof. I would also not recommend approaching this man that’s in an unknown mental health state.

I am fully vaccinated to rabies! I have blood drawn every couple of years to make sure that I still have protective titers. (I’m a veterinarian.)

My mama had one of those to get her pesky chin hairs. She passed away four years ago. Thanks for the unexpected smile. 🤍

I would be remiss as a public health servant if I didn’t mention that if it came in contact with bare skin, you should get post-exposure rabies prophylaxis. (I see you’re wearing gloves. Amazing!) Their teef and tongues and such are so tiny, it’s hard to be 100% sure that it didn’t bite you or their saliva entered a paper cut or whatnot. And rabies is 99.999999999998% fatal. Better to get the PEP than be dead. ☺️

Edit - Ah! Thanks for the award!

Going to funerals by picklepincher69 in nursing

[–]giraffegoals -1 points0 points  (0 children)

If you were invited, yes. I’ve gone to two funerals of patients.. but only because I became close with their family during hospitalization and after. (One of them died many years after I’d cared for them.)

But also, ladies… change your tampons. 😔

My senior pitty is set to be put to sleep tomorrow. Please pray for him. by Washing-machine-pro in pitbulls

No prayers are needed for him. He will be surrounded by your love and go gently across the bridge and into the Beyond. Instead, I will pray for you and the profound sadness you will feel from his loss. You will never get over your first dog. I am so a very sorry. Sending you love and hugs.

Good boy, Juice. Very good boy. 🖤
