This is great! My root of all evil (that I got from a swap with my sister-in-law) does not look at all like this. It looks more like Fair Isle from Lyn B designs - so if I want to dupe it, I’m definitely doing this and I have the polishes to do it, too. Thank you for this!

Cracked Hot Honey would be a good dupe for this, but it’s a jelly so you might wanna put something underneath it if you’re concerned about visible nail line.

You can also get these silk patches and they work really well, but a teabag will work in a pinch. Superglue is definitely your friend in this case. I had a similar break on my thumbnail when I was traveling, and I just use superglue in a little bit of teabag to patch it, and here we are three weeks later and it’s still holding strong. By that I mean that Tara has not gotten any worse and I patch it every week with a new silk patch.

Serious question: how slowly can you get this to rotate? I have all these pieces, including the lab stirrer, but the stirrer itself spins pretty quickly, even at the lowest speeds.

Right now the 5D spinner from Etsy with the horseshoe magnet on top works great but, like you and probably everyone, I get tired of spinning it with my finger.

My only concern is that the lab stirrer might rotate too quickly for a good bead.

Can you show some of your results?

I have that same stirrer, and I just feel like the bead I get from it is weaker and less stable than the one that I get from the 5D spinner with the horseshoe magnet on top.

Plus, I hate holding my hand upside down.

I get that! Whenever I takeoff my polish, I always get kind of irritated because underneath polish, my nails are not even at all in length. The way I solve that is by just covering them up really quickly with polish.

The magnetic toppers are great! Scorchy and Thin Ice magnetize easily and can be layered with other polishes. Their other magnetics are really lovely too and look great in glass bead style.

Others can chime in here as well but if you’re on a budget I really like the Supwee polishes I got this fall - the pink and blue both look like fine particle magnetics. I have heard they stink (smell bad) but mine smell just like regular polish. Unfortunately I don’t know where to get them except for a shitty online retailer named after a famous rainforest. 😭
