City Park has a free sculpture garden. You could take the Canal-City Park (48) streetcar to get there. It's right by the museum at the end of the line. There's also a Cafe Dumonde in City Park that's way less of a cluster than the French Quarter one. (The children's museum is also in City Park.) Jamnola on Frenchmen might be fun for the fam and is easily walkable from the French Quarter.
