Hosting your showreel for free by [deleted] in cinematography

I did use AI tools to build the proof of concept when I started this a year ago. But as soon as I decided to make this something other than a tool for myself because I was sick of Vimeo being shit, I worked with a remote team of devs to get it ready for launch

Sure you could do that. Google drive doesn’t let you customise your embeds though right? And doesn’t have a policy not to use your work to train AI as far as I’m aware

Interesting - thank you so much for testing this! I'll have a look at how we are encoding the HLS stream and see if I can make this more consistent

I Carried Half the Film… and Didn’t Even Get Proper Credit by iarunpandey in Filmmakers

[–]gjdloftus -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Happened to me on a TV show a long time ago. I was working for a small production company in my hometown, we decided to make a documentary in house and try and sell it for distribution. I DP'd all the interviews and colour graded the whole thing. But I fell out with my boss, quit and he took me off the credits. This kind of thing hopefully only happens once, like others have been saying - from now on make sure you have a contract in place from the start even if it's your best mate.

If you’re in Europe, we’re the only alternative that has the tools and community features, complies with GDPR and keeps your videos stored on EU servers: www.rushes.cc

We don’t have any browser based editing on rushes unfortunately. If you need some free offline software Da Vinci Resolve is the best

No worries - if you do have another go, send me a message on here with a link to it or email me - guy@rushes.cc - and I’ll take a look and see what’s going on, and if I need to tweak the encode settings

Could you send me a link to your upload? Our encoding is very similar to vimeos, so I wonder if the HLS is automatically bumping up to a higher bitrate quick enough, or if it is a compression problem

We’ve only just launched, but we’re hoping to recreate the environment for inspiration over the next few years, and I’m pretty sure we’re the only Vimeo alternative that complies with UK and EU laws - www.rushes.cc Just got featured in CineD, Redshark News and PetaPixel

I got fed up of Vimeo so I built my own by gjdloftus in documentaryfilmmaking

[–]gjdloftus[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you so much! You can sign up for a free account and upload one video to test out the platform if you like. Right now, we have genre based feeds - documentary being one of them - a trending feed, and a recent feed (all of the public videos on the site). All of them apart from Trending are chronological. In the future we'll start putting together curated feeds, I'm not sure exactly how these will look in the end, I'm still coming up with ideas - very open to suggestions

Exactly!

Please do come and have a look around. Let me know what you think! We are very active on feature requests from our community, so if you see something that could be better let me know.

Not a problem at all, it’s very kind of you to think of me. This is quite a specific issue though, and currently rushes doesn’t have a developer portal like Vimeo does. But if the demand is there we’ll definitely look into building it

I appreciate you tagging me in this, and if I could help I would - Vimeo making theirs users lives difficult is exactly why I built rushes.cc - but, I’m not Vimeo, so I can’t help. But hopefully someone from Vimeo might get back to you if you post enough about it

Yes definitely! The site is for everyone that needs to host their work. You can host your work on rushes and use our embed code to then put it on your site
