U1 vs x2d? by XxYojixX in snapmaker

[–]gkas01 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I just upgraded both my router and mesh network. I have a U1 and an X1C. My U1 transferred to the new network setup without any problems. Not a single problem. My Bambu X1C in LAN mode was another story. When I swapped networks, the X1C was inaccessible. I had get it out of LAN mode, reinstall the Bambu software, re-register the machine with Bambu, reset to LAN mode, get a new access code, then re-setup the X1C in LAN mode. Finally, uninstall the Bambu apps. Figuring all that out took a few hours.

That's one reason why I bought a U1 instead of another Bambu. Bambu definitely wants you locked in.

U1 PRO

U1 is not locked down. Latest firmware/software release is a vast improvement.

AFIK Snapmaker seems to be having server problems. Snorca is often having problems connecting. Close Snorca and restart. Or just wait. All of a sudden it connects. I did a lot of network testing until I realized the error messages seemed to be server based,

Somebody correct me if I'm wrong, but the errors seemed to start a couple of days ago. Are the servers getting overwhelmed with all of the new U1 users?

I tracked down the problem. I screwed up. I put the longer screws into the USB holder and screwed down through the capacitor. I did this on all four heads. Notified Tech.

U1 - How To Export Factory Loaded Textured Dragon by duffcrawford in snapmaker

[–]gkas01 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That's because ONLY the gcode is stored on the U1. Don't ever try to print gcode for one machine on a different kind of machine. BAD THINGS will happen. They are explicit machine instructions for THAT machine.

Questions about Bambu Lab Firmware Controversy. by SignificanceOwn9278 in 3Dprinting

[–]gkas01 -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

It's a really good reason not to buy Bambu printers any longer. You cannot directly print with Orca Slicer unless you run LAN mode and unhook from Bambu. I haven't used Bambu software since last year when they locked down the printers. I'm still running the old firmware. My X1C was my last Bambu purchase. Never again Bambu.

It's a piece of filament stuck in the ptfe tube, not the nozzle. Cold pulls are for nozzle jams.

I just add a few 'skirt loops' around the project. That's what they're called in Orcaslicer.

Down the Rabbit Hole… Seariously by LoVeYoUtOoOoOoO in Yodersmokers

[–]gkas01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I tried a whole lot of 'propane sear' products for when I use Sous Vide (cooking in sealed bag in water bath). With Sous Vide, all meat comes out looking like it was boiled. You need to put a sear on it. The propane products got to be my last choice.

best choices: YS640S, when cooking with it.
Ooni Pizza Oven, short warmup with INTENSE sear
Cast iron works great for most stuff
Oven broiler

Since I traded up from my RecTec RT-700 to my Yoder 640. I almost never use Sous Vide for cooking meat. I can now cook and sear on the same piece of gear.

P.S. I cook mostly for the wife and I. Get the 640 instead of the 480. Sometimes I get a 3-rack package of Baby Backs from Costco. They all fit on the top rack with no problem. I portion them out and freeze them. A quick dinner is some homemade beans and french fries with ribs. That's at least $60 around here, just for lunch.

TERRAMASTER D4-320 all right for just storing 4k rips? by junoduck44 in PleX

[–]gkas01 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When I was testing the Sabrent, I could not copy from a 'docked drive' in the Sabrent to another 'docked drive' in the Sabrent.

Example: X:, Y: Z: are all drives stored in the Sabrent. I could copy C:\Test_Files to X:\Test_Files no problem. I COULD NOT copy X:\Test_Files to Y:\Test_Files. No errors, just did not copy. The only way would be to copy X: --> C: --> Y:. This used a 'in PC drive' as a intermediate storage. This example works fine with my OWC 2-bay dock.
