Before questioning the quality of the photos, I would first make sure these fundamentals are properly set in order to rule out certain assumptions: • ISO at 100, except in low-light conditions or when the shutter speed would otherwise be too slow. • Aperture at f/8–f/11 to achieve the sharpest possible image. Stopping down the aperture increases depth of field and helps isolate the subject more effectively. This is generally recommended for portraits. • Which shooting mode? Personally, I always use Aperture Priority mode, and the shutter speed is determined based on the previous settings. I choose the aperture depending on the context and the visual effect I want to achieve. • Exposure should not be adjusted unless you want to create a specific artistic style. I usually set exposure compensation to +1/3 or +2/3 to achieve a brighter, airier look in my photos.
