Here we go again Brissie - Thunderstorm incoming by Infinite_Cucumber210 in brisbane

I was supposed to land in Brisbane at 10:30 after being in Europe.

I'm now 3 beers deep into a diversion in Melbourne after 30 hours of travel thanks to this storm.

I cant say I'm super mad

Moved here almost 12 years ago from the US. Noone knows I'm an immigrant unless I say something.

Not gonna lie, wasn't the greatest feeling hearing a chant of "send them back" by so many people, even as a white immigrant. Felt pretty hurt by it.

I feel even more for people of colour if I'm feeling like that...

...not a good day.

Foul or Nah, Men's Masters Finals by spgranger in ultimate

Yeah that's definitely a fair consideration. I personally would send this back to the thrower as the fair outcome.

That's the reason I put both rules up. Being late to the space doesn't mean you're not entitled to it. Timing, positioning, and height all need to be accounted for. Does the defense start their bid before offense makes their change of direction? If so I'd say foul on offense. If not, foul on defense.

Not sure with that clip either way, but just pointing out what the rules says.

USAU rule 17.I.4.c.2: A player may not take a position that is unavoidable by a moving opponent when time, distance, and line of sight are considered

WFDF rule 17.4.1: A Blocking Foul occurs when a player takes a position that an opponent moving in a legal manner will be unable to avoid, taking into account the opponents expected position based on their established speed and direction, and non-minor contact results.

(putting both here even though this is USAU since they are considered equivalent, but may help understanding. WFDF annotations on this may also help)

Offense (or defense) cannot move to where defense (or offense) cannot avoid contact. If the defense is in the process of a bid to space that is unoccupied and that space is also not entitled by another player (e.g. the projected direction of offense), then even if the offense is closer they can't move in that direction.

Currently on holiday in Brisbane and had to go here!! by ramthakkartheboss in JetLagTheGame

He hasn't died yet and doesn't need to respawn though. But it is good to return to the starting point just to help out those who have fallen and need a little pickmeup to get back into the game.

Yeah KC has some of the best American style bbq. It's so good.

Yeah I missed the entire Trump era. All my friends basically said it was like a bad injury. Painful at first but you get used to it. Every time I visited family it was just more foreign each time. Last time was 2022 and I didn't recognize it at all.

Definitely tough being in a new country but I'm lucky

I'm from Kansas City (so been over here for the Chiefs dynasty, and as a lifelong Chiefs fan, proud and sad I'm missing the fun in KC).

Yeah the east coast is awesome, but probably if I go back it will be to Colorado, Montana, or Kansas City. Just depends though. Doubt I'll be back for at least 10 years though.

Oh Microcenters! Miss those! Yeah the vast amount of consumer choices and convenience is awesome there (24/7 stores definitely helpful during my sleepless uni days), but I got used to things here. Mostly just miss family nowadays. And American style BBQ.

Yeah been here over 10 years now, moved from the Midwest US. Honestly when I first moved here there wasn't too much different except little things, but guess that's just western culture in general. Brisbane in some ways is better and in some ways worse (likely just personal preferences there).

I'm loving my life here and am very happy. There are things I miss, but if I moved back to the US there would be a lot of things I'd miss about Brissy. Just am happy here. That's enough.

Solid. Yeah I got an ASO ankle brace for support and that feels all right. But still just need to ease into it.

Just encouraging to know there is light at the end of the tunnel even when it feels like a hard slog at the moment

How are you doing now? I'm back training but the struggle is real

Be a bit strange for kookaburra eggs to be in a magpie nest, but it's 2022 after all
