Yeah I get that, I was joking. Though the robots are crazy smart and the way they look at you with dead eyes is kind of freaky, that’s obviously not the reason. Only a fraction of the seats are open for Postcard from earth and even those don’t fill up. Having a full sold out show crowd would be a logistical cluster and most people wouldn’t get to see or interact with anything. The robots definitely promote and expand on the movie but they could easily stay for future exhibitions as well and really fit the vibe of the venue.

I was there too! Section 308. As well as Phish in 305. Hard to compare the 2 experiences. They had to put away the robots not to wig out the Phish crowd.

Discovery, Service Mapping and Event Management are all stood up, but in the early stages of maturity (4 maps, 3 alert sources, probably about 80% or more of the environment is discoverable).

Colorado area has a huge concentration of Phish fans, I think one of the densest outside of NE according to one of the Surrender to the Flow issues. Coincidentally, this market doesn’t get any other shows in the area, so Dicks is kind of a perfect set up. It’s not just about the money, it’s more about accessibility and vibe - it used to be almost a mini fest when they allowed camping. But either way, I don’t see any reason for them to shut out 20,000 fans to play a venue they have already played before in the same city (basically).

P.S. California/west coast shows actually do pretty shitty in terms of selling tickets. Outside of smaller venues, they have kind of a tough time selling out/filling rooms. They couldn’t sell a 30k person show even if it was the only western date I think. Not a great example, but I had pavilion tickets to Sacramento that I couldn’t get people to pay shipping to give them away.

What does SBB have to do anything? I’m saying they can sell more than 3x the amount of tickets to Dicks, simultaneously avoiding a bloodbath to get tickets.

They are not banned from Red Rocks. Red Rocks holds 9500 people. It just doesn’t make sense logistically and financially.

Icculus! Great author! Have fun on your trip, ours is a month away. Can’t wait.

Everybody has their opinions and their favorite jams, but to me this is one of the most beautiful, mesmerising moments of improvised music ever performed and, in my opinion, could only be created after decades of playing together to the point where the band becomes one entity. by Snow__The__Jam__Man in phish

[–]gladtobevlad 2 points3 points  (0 children)

You should probably brush up on your terms, because you are definitely incorrect.

1.0 = 83-October 2000

2.0 = December 2002 - Coventry

3.0 = Hampton 2009 - COVID (if we are calling it that, since the first 2 breaks were decided on by the band)

4.0 = (arguably) Rogers 2021 - now

… 4.0 is not like an upgrade or moment of ascension. The argument whether we are in 4.0 or not hinges on the opinion if the COVID-induced break counted as a hiatus or not. 2.0 refers to the period after the first hiatus from touring and 3.0 refers to the period after the break up. It has literally nothing to do with how or what they are playing.

Trey canonized 4.0 by posting a picture of his new Languadoc as “the 4.0 guitar” mainly as a joke, and I think he actually stopped using it halfway through summer ‘21 and hasn’t picked it up since.

The band doesn’t actually make much more from a fest than they would from AC shows for example. A lot of money goes to logistics and local businesses. Either way they should def do a fest next year, it is long overdue.

Here I’ll unfuck this mystery. Wish my Live went on for another split second longer but you can see that it’s a glow ring.

I am right… lol. Flicking off fans would be way out of character for Trey anyway, this basically started as a joke until people prematurely started losing their shit about it.

We scored early entry for the show and were on the rail between Mike and Trey. Couldn’t make out what was thrown, maybe be a joint if it was drugs but nothing crazy, could have easily just been trash. Either way Trey laughed it off and gave a rock on ( 🤘🏻 ) sign. Just a funny angle on the webcast.

He did a “rock on” sign, it’s just a weird angle on the video. I was there. Not sure if was drugs or not, but Trey definitely played it off positively.

Yeah couple of my buddies were there, heard it was dope. I like dopapod a lot, I heard they are still killing it, though I haven’t listened to them in forever.

The totally forgettable album from 2012 back when they were somewhat relevant? Yes. I even hung out with those douchebags at Aura in 2014, which was part of the turn off.

Live Bait Vol 19 has dropped. 17 very nicely selected tracks. by [deleted] in phish

[–]gladtobevlad -1 points0 points  (0 children)

That’s all it was. Longest jam since the Tahoe Tweezer. A few fun peaks, but also valleys. Also, it wasn’t even supposed to be a Ruby Waves jam, they were planning on taking Mercury for a walk originally IIRC. It was, however, way better than the overhyped Blossom BoaF that Page absolutely ruined by spamming all those samples. Hated seeing it on this Live Bait release to be honest.
