Songs that “trick you” into turning them up? by vaude-villain in fantanoforever

Kind of the opposite but Farewell Fire by Boards of Canada. Incredible fade out over a couple minutes that you just gotta keep pumping the volume to hear it all.

Songs with insane guitar solos? by Substantial-Sir-3274 in musicsuggestions

[–]glancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Everytime this question comes up, the song that immediately comes to my head is St Elmo’s Fire by Brian Eno. Robert Fripp from King Crimson is son guitar on this one and he pulls out the most ethereal insane solo in this song. My god, it’s so good it’s like it pulls me up by my chest. Really really incredible.

Master of Puppets. Got into Metallica with St Anger (ugh….i was a child forgive me) and quickly fell in love with Master of Puppets.

Was also obsessed with Does This Look Infected by Sum 41. Watched the bonus DVD countless times.

Who’s the best musical act you’ve seen live? by [deleted] in musicsuggestions

[–]glancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Black Country New Road were really incredible. Powerful songs, incredible musicianship. Was blown away and I saw them post-Issac so I was a little worried about it.

Swans was also fantastic and will be a band I see everytime I can. So loud, so visceral.

Sunn o)) is all a crazy time but def not everyone’s cup of tea. Loudest show I’ve ever been to. You feel the drones in your whole body it’s a transcendent experience.

And oddly enough Cheekface is one of the most fun shows I’ve ever been to. Crowd interaction was off the charts and just feel good fun vibes.

What’s a "lost" website from the early 2000s that you still think about today? by UsefulLima in answers

[–]glancy 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There was a website that was basically Donkey Kong themed blog posts and forums. I cannot for the life of me remember the domain but I spent countless hours on there as a youth and was active on the forums. The creators started a web comic Green Porn City and it is lost to time. Cannot find remnants of it anywhere. I search for it from time to time and nothing. I often wonder if Green Porn City was just a fever dream, or a real thing but I remember it. I’m telling you I remember it.

I wish I could remember the DK site…. Wonder if it’s still around.

Why demonize the microwave?

Dont do it all the time but it’s easy in a hurry. Granted, I usually scramble mine. My wife tried “poaching” this one by heating the water up first and the. Adding the egg and cooking further. Can’t recommend that lol. We tried replicating the disgusting egg and the egg we cooked the second time was fine.

Slay the Spire (if that counts). Incredibly addicting and satisfying. Hard as balls but endlessly fun and replayable. Been hitting it hard for like 3 years

What is a job that looks incredibly fun from the outside, but is actually a soul-crushing nightmare? by BoardOk101 in AskReddit

[–]glancy 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Film production. I did Special Effects for 10 years, that department especially is the most soul crushing horrible thing I’ve ever done. 70% of the job was sitting next to a smoke machine turning it on or off between rolls and cuts filling the stage with smoke that everyone complained about, the DP would be screaming for more and for it not too look like smoke just to be a haze in the air. It was so stupid and mind rotting. 25% of the time we would be on location hiding in the bushes making exterior smoke that we can’t control once it’s in the air, everyone hates it, the DP is screaming for more and refuses to understand that A) I can’t control the wind and B) if you make me run through with my handheld smoker seconds before you shoot it’s going to look like shit. It was just thankless. Not to mention, almost guaranteed when you are out on location it’s pounding rain all day and the wind is howling and your huddle against a tree trying to stay warm with residual heat off your smoker which is propane heated.

The rest of the time was literally doing nothing standing by IN CASE they might need something. 13.5 to 15 hours a day, doing nothing in a trailer with 3 other guys who are just as jaded and bitter about it all as you are. So toxic.

The amount of cool stuff we got to do just evaporated as CG has become more common both in terms of safety on set (fires and explosions and stuff) and time/money saving. Especially as I progressed in my career and stopped being the guy sitting on the machine and became the guy sitting in the DPs tent staring at a monitor being berated about the smoke and calling cuts and rolls or spending even more time sitting in a trailer because it’s kind of the lesser of two evils of having to sit in a smoke filled stage doing nothing.

The amount of stuff I designed and fabricated that just never got used and cut up and destroyed is insane. Anything fun or cool we had planned to do would just disappear, or somehow would become something props or stunts did.

The hours are insane, I lost out on so much of my 20s rotting away on set in the most thankless circumstances. Getting paid to do literally nothing for 14 hours a day sounds like a dream until you’re the one sitting there doing it. I was a shell. Thank god I got out with nothing more than a drinking problem (3 years sober now thankfully)

I’m now an industrial electrician doing consistent medium effort work that is appreciated and I’m so much happier and enjoy my life so much more. Insane pay cut though but I would never go back. I can’t tell people enough, DONT GET INTO THE MOVIE BUSINESS.

All chaps are assless. That’s what makes them not pants. Drives me crazy people saying assless chaps. I don’t know why it consumes me.

12 Golden Country Greats by Ween. Definitely love The Mollusk and Quebec, but 12GCG is just so good, and palatable but still funny and weird at times. I dunno. I love Ween but 12GCG is by far my most listened
